I remember exactly where I was when I heard this first. It was 3rd grade gym class, we had a substitute, and he let us play our music on a boombox he brought, while we played dodge ball. Another kid played this, and I immediately "bought" (stole) every metal album they had on Columbia House Records, and never gave them anything but that first penny you taped to the order form.

Randy Rhoads was a founding original member of Quiet Riot. He left in 1979 before they found success. He left to join Ozzy. Kiss, The Eagles, and Rush were my first favorites in the late 70’s. Quiet Riot joined that group in the early 80’s. Along with Joe Walsh’s solo album. And then Motley Crue changed everything for me with Too Fast for Love!

METAL health. It’s a play on heavy metal music. Back when this song was popular, in the 80s when I was a teenager, that type of music was called heavy-metal. Now they’re calling heavy-metal a totally different thing. It’s still hard rock N roll, but it’s on another level. Something that I can’t get a hold of. I’m old-school. I like stuff like this, and some of the older bands that are still out and touring. This is the jam back in my day.

Quiet Riot was the first commercial successful metal band they were influenced by another band that was somewhat metal they were called Slade. Quiet Riot even covered one of Slade’s songs called “ Come Feel The Noise “. Your kind of wrong about just hearing the hook. The bases for metal is Rock and Roll and the bases for Rock and Roll is Rhythm and Blues music. This why a lot people enjoy hearing such artists as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, and BB King. With a lot of music it’s the music that we enjoy not just the lyrics. There’s nothing wrong with Rap or Hip Hop it’s just that their based on lyrics and usually sampling this is sometimes considered not as creative because with other types of music there’s people creating it from scratch. It’s not to say that there’s not that in Rap and Hip Hop but a lot of the stuff that gets popular is that of songs that have sampling and of course it’s songs that are already popular. There’s are pop songs that incorporate raps in them but they usually don’t do well over time and they usually cut out the rap section to make it a shorter song or what is termed more radio friendly. The radio stations like short songs so that they can play more songs not because they don’t like certain styles. Rock and Metal were the ones that kind of broke this mold and helped with getting other stuff out on the radio.

Could be earlier as I don't remember exactly when it changed. But I do know you could still smoke almost anywhere until the 1990's. their name is a play on a british guy saying "quite right". the singer is the late great kevin dubrow. he was besties with randy rhodes in a 70's version of this band before randy went with ozzy and changed music forever, then died in a plane crash. kevin restarted this band with a new lineup, the great rudy sarzo on bass, the powerful franki banali on drums and my dude carlos cavazo on guitar, seriously underrated melodic rock player. next time you listen to the song, just listen to a good mix of the full version, not the video edit, and you'll enjoy more than the hook. the beat is nice, the main solo and the out solo are great and the bass breakdown is legendary. that's edited out of the video.
