An oldie but a good one. This nib is engineering excellence. It provides a small amount of variation, with perfect control and zero skipping, even reverse writing without drying out. Just a great design from these guys, and flies under the radar. Thanks for bringing this to us, sir.

Thanks Stephen. I've received one and the nib (medium too) was very very dry by default. Dry with Iroshizuku, unthinkable... After adjusting the nib, the pen write now very wet and it's appear that the nib and the pen are very better than the 3776 especially for long writing sessions (its size make the difference, you are right but the quality of its nib too). It's globally an excellent pen at this price level. Unfortunate that his main problem is its converter (a real little shit). 125 euros on Amazon.fr (VAT included)

Where was this video a few weeks ago when I was considering one? I ended up buying a burgundy with a broad nib which Dan Smith ground to a cursive italic. I've been a big fan of the 3776. So far I'm thrilled with it. It's a little larger, but not too large. It's comfortable in my hand. With that nib on it, I think it will be inked more than it's not. There are surprisingly few reviews on KZbin for this pen, so thank you for helping with that!

Thanks Stephen, keep up your good reviews. I didn't like my 3776 despite the hype. I've just bought a burgundy President with a broad nib and its a smooth and wet writer. I like it a lot!

Hi Andrew, what do you think of the president now? A president with broad nib is what I'm looking into as well. Figboot has an awesome writing sample with one.
@AdrianMutu875 жыл бұрын
if you notice in the size comparison with the sailor 1911L, they are almost the same length, but the President has more bulky ends compared to the Sailor's pointy zeppelin shape. For me that is likely to make a difference in holding the pen, as that bulk may help stabilize the pen in the web of the thumb and index.

I wish Platinum hadn't discontinued the Blue/Rhodium version of this. I'd get one in a heartbeat if they still had it at standard prices, since my appreciation of Platinum nibs has grown substantially. The ones still floating around sell at a premium.

Thanks for the review, I'm looking at a blue version at mo and although not as classy as my 3 Pelikan M800s it's a really nice pen for the money. Cheers.

Had a President a few years back but the feed broke off. Not kidding, literally broke in two. Got my money back, a manufacturing defect. Since then I got a 3776 and I think it's a superior pen as far as value is concerned, though it does feel a bit cheap.

Thank you Stephen. Does this one have the Slip & Seal cap like the 3776? I am guessing not....
@dp84606 жыл бұрын
Allan Engelhardt this has inner cap sealing but not slip and seal. since slip and seal is vacuum seal.

My platinum president's threads on body and cap always get misaligned, feels jerky sometimes when I close the cap. Does anyone experience this kind of problem? The pen is just bought, thinking about should I get a warranty repair or not.

The President is a bigger pen alright, but I think you're doing down the 3776 a little bit - it's about 14cm long and the same dimensions more or less as the Lamy 2000. You might be confusing it with the Sailor 1911 Standard, which is indeed a smaller-sized pen.
@sbrebrown7 жыл бұрын
+bonapartocunasa The 3776 I have is 12 centimeters long, which is pretty small.

My 3776 Century is also 140 mm long, capped that is. I belive the celluloid 3776 models are a bit smaller.

Stephen, could you review "Hero H718"? I think it's copy of the Montblanc's safety pen, and it seems quite interesting.

The 3776 isn't a narrow pen at all. It's got a 10mm section
@mustangx2187 жыл бұрын
I think it is in comparison to big pens like Mont Blanc or the other western pens he likes like Pelikan M800s, etc.
@cloudybeforerain71347 жыл бұрын
It's also worth remembering that Stephen has larger than average hands. I have smaller than average hands, so what he would call narrow and what I would call narrow differ.

All that matters is how it feels to the individual and, how one uses it. Also, it's a myth that a girthier pen is apt to make the page moister, or that darker inks flow smoother.
