I’ve experienced a lot of “racism” from blacks as a white growing up in an urban community (not towards me because we were friends, but comments towards other whites - and they told me it’s not about me because I’m black on the inside???). I think society has put such one-sided definitions of racism. I agree with Tom and appreciate him speaking for us all when we are called racist when we are not. My 9 yr old daughter is half PR and got called “racist” in school. The race card has got to stop. We are all mixed, and we are all brothers and sisters through Christ.
@stevenzwiesler51042 күн бұрын
those who are continually calling others racists I believe don't understand what real racism is
@Trinity_217Күн бұрын
@ agreed, but it’s also socially acceptable to call whites “crackers” - which is a racially derogatory term. My point is that racism can go any way between any races - and that we ALL need to stop and judge character and actions.

Five years later,I’m still watching reactions to this song. You can tell a lot about someone by how they react to this one. Closed minded people of the message are usually the the people hating it. Open conversation is a good thing.

He was living in Crenshaw in South Central LA at the time. He and Nova had their neighbors ( all black ) they told him they were a little worried about him. Lol Tom did it . The next one should be THIS HOUSE. It's the response to all the hate he got for doing this. So he also did a video called Behind the Shoot. It's on You tube. I think the title of the video is called White boy behind the shoot. He is talking with the cast explaining why he did this video. I hope you enjoyed it. ❤

This old vet pulled up a chair to catch your reaction. I enjoyed your reaction and agree with all you said. I remember when tom came out with this song, the amount of hate that was thrown at him was sad. You think this day and age we would be past that. Unfortunately, too many want to keep it alive for deceptive reasons, that will never help us move forward and allow us to unite as one people of several cultures.

This is one of the sings that introduced me to Tom. I felt it in my soul as a white woman. I’ve never hated anyone because of the color of their skin, but I’ve been judged for mine. That’s probably why back in the 80s I found myself in a weird situation where some of my best friends were gang members from LA. I was from Colorado.. it was crazy. I love his message here.

I feel like this song is such a good litmus test for reaction channels. I can understand those that maybe just think it's corny, or they just don't like the sound of the track because it doesn't appeal to them, like for me, I don't think this song has a lot of replayability to where I want to hear it in my regular playlists, but I enjoy watching others listen to it for the first time because it's a powerful track. However if a reactor gets kneejerkish and upset by listening to the actual message of the song especially given todays climate, then they probably aren't worth watching. Anyone that can't objectively see how it's been made mainstream to talk mess about an entire group of people over some bad apples just based upon the color of their skin, has their head shoved so far up their own butt.

I wouldn't change a thing about any of it. I thought I was just light skin. Everyone always shared love along with opening there door for me to break bread with them. That was over 45 years ago and I wish I could thank them all for teaching me 2 see through colors and live and respect your neighbors regardless. Great reaction. I wish you would have checked out White Boy Before The Shoot, too. It's Tom answering the actors questions about where he's coming from with this song. Maybe you can watch it just for yourself. I'm German and I'm baffled by how much importance pigments have in America. We wouldn't even call it race here (dogs have different races, humans don't) and you will never be ask for your race in and forms to fill out. I understand that there's more trauma in the US, but it's the trauma of past generations. You should strieve to become Americans instead of dividing yourself everyday.

I think one of the things I love about Tom is that he addresses the elephant in the room with facts and heart! The main thing for me, though, is his music touches me on a whole different level, racism is a big problem, but it is my opinion, no offense to anyone, that discrimination in general is the biggest ENEMY we have! He speaks to me because he talks about all of it! Heart and Soul! Race, religion, culture, politics, money, family, status, etc. I am HANG OVER GANG FOREVER because Tom Macdonald and Nova Rockafeller are REAL PEOPLE WITH PHENOMENAL TALENT! The "HATERS" of the world will always choose a weak spot and exploit it. Choose your poison, it will not always be race or sexual orientation! God bless Tom Macdonald and Nova Rockafeller and the HOG ARMY! ❤

Dope reaction man! From when I first stumbled upon a reactor (too lit mafia) reacting to white boy. The song immediately became a conversation starter. It was nice to see another man's perspective and agree with perspectives and thoughts on the song. And immediately it made me start to feel like we weren't so divided purely from the news, or interactions witnessed and opinions expressed by a small amount of people. And I think unfortunately when you work a certain job or live in a certain area those consistent interactions kinda become ingrained into your thoughts purely based on repetition when things could be far from that! Any rant over love the reaction! (TITTIES) 8-27-2013 SON OF SAME

I think the tide is starting to turn again now... I'm scared that it may end up going too far back the other way again too though... We, as societies, seem to be constantly going back and forth between too much of one thing, followed by too much of the opposite... Rarely do we find a perfect balance then stay there... Oh well...
@BRockIITWi3 күн бұрын
@KitsyX Ideology tends to be like a pendulum. It tends to swing too far one way before it shifts back center, then it swings too far the other way. I hope this time we find balance. It seems the pendulum has started back to the center currently.

"White" guy here born and raised in Detroit. Grew up in a mostly black hood and we never really had race issues. We used to roast each other over race and never had problems. I did get jumped twice for being "White" but it didn't make me feel any different to the other "Black" people. It is what it is, the government will etc will continue to distract us with racism to keep us divided for profit and control.

Third and last I grew up listening to either the hard R or the A cause I was in predominantly black neighborhoods until I was 20 with racist parents and I don’t believe either of them should be used no matter the story that’s being told unless you’re Richard Prior explaining why he didn’t use either word anymore after his trip to Africa. It’s a word rooted in hate, ignorance and bigotry no matter how it’s pronounced.
