The metroidvania influences finally encouraged me to play the sequel to Guacamelee, which had long been in my back log. While not as narratively tight as the first game, it’s still a fun experience. The character design and progression are still strong, but it’s unfortunate that many returning characters are straight up caricatures of their previous incarnations. Combat is otherwise great, and the DLC adds a pretty fun series of challenges. All in all, enjoyed it, but it would rank quite a bit lower than the first one in my metroidvania list.
