Gruul is one of my favorite characters in lore that isn't very well known. I've always thought that lore from Draenor... Draenorian? anyway I've always thought that lore was pretty interesting. Gruul was the most powerful of a race of Stone giants that descend from a massive elemental named Grond, what else do you need to find intriguing at the very least? Gruul has a short but interesting story. He was the most powerful Gronn and the patriarch of their race, he had seven sons but no mentioned mate. Gruul was said to be so powerful that he rivaled the Wild Gods and Loa of Azeroth. Everything was fine for him until the Horde came into power. Warchief Blackhand ordered the Thunderlord clan to eliminate the powerful forces of the Breakers and Primals in Gorgrond. The Thunderlords were brutally successful in this, they drove the Magnaron and Ogron into extinction, the only reason Gruul and few other Gronn survived was because they were hidden in his lair, the Thunderlords knew this but also knew that it was too risky to plan an invasion into the lair so they left him alone as long as he left the Horde alone for the time being. Later on during the Alliance Expedition into Draenor led by the Sons of Lothar, Gruul came across Khadgar and the Sons. Both groups knew the Black Dragonflight was a threat and so they called a shaky truce in driving them out of Gorgrond, and it was working... until Deathwing came. Deathwing was powerful, far more than Gruul, and everyone knew this so Khadgar tore an Elementium plate off of Deathwing with arcane magic after a long battle. After this they cleaned up the rest of the dragonflight that they could find and simply left, leaving Gruul's race to prosper again with the help of Ogre slaves. By the time we arrive in Outland, the Ogres are tired of being pushed around by Maulgar and Gruul so Morg'dorg the Wizened gets us to kill many of his sons and we enter the lair. Gruul is slain and the Ogres of Outland are freed. After the Burning Crusade expansion, it is unlikely that Gronn still exist in our main timeline. Sure there are the Gronn from the alternate universe that the Mag'har Orcs brought over but the ones native to our universe? they're either few in number or completely extinct.

I remember the first time my guild killed Gruul....I was the last man standing, warlock. It was my Curse of Doom proc that dealt the killing blow. The spawned doomguard ganked me.

@@missperfectluxury7630 it's not too hard, start with a moonbeam to build an early threat lead. he's a caster so he won't be moving around much, he can be tanked in his initial position. the way my guild does it, I try and take threat at the exact same time as the main pull.

Another stratagy for Olm is to use a paladin to tank him as pallies should be able to drop the debuff with divine shield. Threat will drop but it isn't too hard to get threat again or just tank swap to a different tank.

I've seen it done where the tanks swap between the warlock and priest (rather than using a fel puppy) and a bear tank can tank the shaman with their back to the door that leads to gruul, all that's needed there is a healer or 2 to round the corner with the back to the wall so they don't get knocked out of range. But that's another strat, as long as the boss dies it's all good.

No one ever uses a "hunter tank" for the first boss. Like a mage tank a hunter can hold aggro on Kiggler with misdirection and distracting shot. All you need is a priest assigned to healing/bubbling and dispelling the polymorph. Better then a druid imo because hunter can hold aggro better from range.

for high king what we do is we put 1 tank on olm and one tank on blindeye, nuke blind eye then the tanks taunt swap olm every 3-5 stacks till he dies. for gruul one issue we run into is that he sometimes tosses players across the room, not just back. is that avoidable? it's doable but it occasionally leads to a death or 2 as one person gets chucked from say one side to the other cluttering that side.

It's apparently 18 yard range for Gruul's Shatter and while the video doesn't say it he can also pull you INTO him, which makes moving away in the 3-4 seconds you have really really hard to do since you have very little time to spread back out. My guild has just started progressing on him and so far all our attempts but one it's been a pull, not a knockback. Much harder to spread out when he does that especially with an 18y range because there's not THAT much room.
