An illuminating talk. Thank you and well done. I do wish however Prof Hobbs had included a little geology in her talk. The dialogue Timaeus includes a lot of geology for Atlantis and the Atlantic and her take on this geology would have been interesting. One minor issue I have with the talk, for what it's worth: Prof Hobbs makes a point that the Egyptian 'registers' are 8,000 years old and that this brings into question the priest's comment that Athens is 1,000 years older than Sais. My reading of Timaeus suggests it merely includes that the registers state that Athens was founded 1,000 years before Sais and that Sais was founded 8,000 years ago. Timaeus does not provide an age for the registers themselves which could just as well be 10,000 years old or 10 years old. All we get from Timaeus is that the registers, whatever their antiquity, contain entries giving the ages of Athens and Sais. Wondering what your thoughts are on this issue.

I think more investigation from the Egyptian angle is warranted. In fact I have heard mention of some kind of (Edfhu?) temple texts preserving a history about invading “sea peoples” in pre-dynastic Egypt. It is all intriguing and I highly appreciate you sharing this open analysis. And,..on the point of those “deceptive” Egyptians (I find that statement intriguing noting that a few great philosophers before Plato seemed to place some measure of ‘trust’ in Egyptian thought),... Would Egyptians be telling Solon a tail-chasing story, when the benefit of the virtuous Truth behind such straight-forward history would spread to all the ancient world in the wY of attempting to ward off imperalist ambition? Something to consider. Thanks again

Just a thought. Whilst I'm a true believer in Atlantis as partially historical, I feel it's unsafe to cite the Edfu texts on their own as this temple was constructed between 237 and 57 BC (Wikipedia) which post-dates Plato and hence it can't be ruled out that the texts may have been influenced by Plato's writings.

For the love of wisdom could someone clone this Professor and distribute her around the world or at least hold her up as an example for other instructors to live up to.

Plato specifically said it's a true story. Why does this presenter assume, a priori, that he made it up? That doesn't seem to me to be a very objective approach.

An ancient map concealed to us long time ago. Not drawn, nor printed on the paper thou. Clever tail has hidden it, right before our eyes, one who wants to find it, shall look up in the skies. And if you do not believe what I say, then please do not mind. But if you trully seek, then Atlanis you shall find.

Think you need to read the text ones more. I dont think we have been reading the same book. You pulling the text apart in wrong order, he says the story happend 1000years befor the record with we have been keeping for 8000 years. He says that that puts the story at 9000 years in the past

I actually really wanted to learn more about this subject and then professor Hobbs started speaking and I just found her to be arrogant, snobbish and entirely up her on own backside! Who chose her to speak in front of the media about philosophy?! Plato would turn in his grave! Oh well, onto the next.

Wanted to share a new finding on Atlantis. Please see KZbin video: Convincing Atlantis. It briefs: 1. Exact location of Atlantis 2. Climate and environment for Atlantis' prosperity 3. How the inundation happened 4. 100% match with Plato's records 5. How the Atlanteans were dispersed Cheers, Holden
