Now that's some tragic comedy. Thanks for the analysis. Enjoy your moments

I can't get over the fact that death by hemlock is slow, painful and terrifying. The Greeks presumably didn't know that victims of the poison remain fully conscious and aware until they die of respratory paralysis. The idea - as some maintain - that Socrates chose the method of his own execution is some pretty _bitter_ irony.

I never thought about the fact that in English, the word apology means 'excuse' which makes the title of this dialogue seem insanely ironic xD

This was my first Plato. I do not recommend going in alphabetical order.

There's no doubt that Socrates was guilty of being an enormous pain in the ass.

Could the prosecution used Socrates' disagreement with Apollo as doubt or contradicting the will of Apollo and blasphemous itself? I believe in some theocratic beliefs even to doubt God is itself considered a crime!

How accurate is it to attribute the statement that the unexamined life is not worth living to Socrates when in fact the clause is embedded in a complex compound sentence about what his jurors would (not) believe? It is famously attributed to him, but it seems like an instance of selective quotation.
