When I think about the allegory of the cave and our world today I can easily identify the role that media play in our society and how they shape our thoughts and opinions.

I remember Jordan Peterson saying in an interview that you must tell the truth at all costs and I thought of how destructive that could be. But I think that is where the philosopher in us comes in, so that we can weigh our words and actions and be just.

I read this book when I was in high school. I didn’t understand much then, but it did something. I opened up my mind, the effects of which I realize now. Thank you for this wonderful video 🙏🏼

Our obsession with justice is s byproduct of being lured away from a tradition of spirituality which kept us humble and self aware. Once we moved away from it, our individuated delusion or ego “took the wheel” and we started confusing “the image of god” with god itself....which led to hierarchy and “ownership” of Mother Earth’s gifts (to all living things), and eventually other creature and other human beings...the need/desire to make this acceptable, led to another fabrication, “Le Meritocracy” I’m glad you remember to frame it as a Western philosophy/culture/ obsession

Could you clarify what you mean with the tradition of spirituality?

@@monsieurLDN anything which focuses on, and deals with, the “spiritual realm” from religion to mindfulness (not Sam Harris version 🙋♀️)

I really agree with Plato's statement that truth, beauty and justice merge each other, and with Bentham's statement that what is just Is useful ti society. Beauty is often seen as quality of genetics, in an uncorrupt society stronger men are more beautiful than weaker men, men's purpose is to ensure the survival of the specie.
