Thank u for checking them out!! 💜And no, they're not vocaloids 😂 You can just call them a virtual group, virtual idols or virtual artists. There are many types of virtual artists and they all work differently. PLAVE works with both animation and motion capture technology. The members, for example, are not animated. They wear special vests and equipment that track the movements of their bodies & faces in real time, and make the characters they represent/avatars move just like them. Thanks to this they can go live and communicate frequently with fans, and do whatever they want, even creating songs in front of fans. Pump Up The Volume is a good example, bc the chorus was created during a live stream about 2 months ago (sometimes they do release stuff that's only animated tho, like "The 6th Summer" MV) It's a project I love a lot, bc the members are completely in charge of the production of their music and choreography, while the artists from Vlast (the startup they work with, not a music company) are only in charge of the visual part and managment ofc. It's like a collab between musicians and tech artists. Btw about their identities, whether or not we come across certain names, we don't talk about it out of respect for them and for the concept they want to maintain. Since they have their own reasons for debuting anonymously. Vlast have asked to please respect their privacy and report doxxing attempts🙏(especially now that they're crazy popular in Korea and unfortunately have already had cases of sasaengs trying to follow them). Vocaloids are characters whose voices are digitized and are for sale, like Barbies that can sing. Plave are people in motion-capture with characters as their avatars! They're similar in that they're virtual celebrites but Plave has more human intervention since you can't have a Plave member without the actual person there while you can make a Miku song without the actual voice of Miku being involved.

Vocaloid is a voice software like a piano. virtual idols are just real people using motion captuer, like vtubers.

since some comments already mentioned about the vocaloid thing 7:42 some or maybe most of plli may know the real people behind the avatars but its common etiquette not to talk about it since plave is not promoted that way. we just accept them as plave. The company also gave a statement not to doxx them, not to stalk them at the company or at their home, otherwise they will take legal action. 8:10 they do livestreams twice/week and uploads video contents and covers on their youtube channel. and yes, they wear those motion caption suits with a camera attached (still don't know what camera or maybe iphone?) to capture their facial expressions.

plave는 애니메이션이 아니라, 캐릭터 뒤에 실제로 사람이 움직이고 있습니다! 사람이 노래를 하고 춤을 추는 상황이 실제로 아바타에 반영된 거에요

3:38 nope they are not frame by frame hehehe, they are real people wearing motion capture suits on the whole body and on their faces, and they dance and move and all that, in front of cameras, wearing those suits, just like the actors on the movies Avatar and Planet of the Apes, thats how these 5 men are too :-)
