This is one of the best beginner fingerpicking lessons I have ever seen. Thanks so much. Maybe you could do a beginner Delta Blues fingerpicking tutorial in this same easy to follow and learn style and fashion. I would love to take your course but I live on such a low monthly income I have no money to spend. Barely have enough to eat properly.

Wish these Travis picking videos were around when I was a kid .. I gave up long ago on fingerpicking style, as I compared it to trying to play with the piano - i.e. trying to do two things musically at the same time (two hands w. the piano).

@attygarland6909, glad the video was helpful :) Yes, it is a challenge, but if you isolate what each hand is doing, take it slow and break things down you will get there. Don't give up :)

Thank you so much for these videos! Your simple step by step process is by far the easiest way to learn Travis Picking that I have seen; I wish I had seen this when I first started playing guitar.

Thank you for the lesson but please tell me why do teachers show playing the ‘F’ chord using the thumb over the neck and at other times too rather than using a barre chord fingering, not all of us have large hands and long fingers enabling us to be able to finger a chord with our thumb over the neck.
@acousticguitarlessons Жыл бұрын
You are welcome Pete! Two reasons why you might use your thumb for the F chord: 1. It makes for a more efficient change, which it does in the context I am using it here so I went with the thumb 2. You want to add some embellishment on the top part of the chord which can be very awkward to do if you barre it Fair enough if the thumb approach doesn't work for you :) Most times there are ways around it, even if it is a little more clunky in terms of the fluency of your sound. You can most facilely barre the F chord as I use it in this video :)
