Absolutely love these videos. Extremely helpful!!!I just more recently picked up the violin. Have very limited. Resources most of my early life was riddle in drug addiction/use and homelessness. Been clean for 5 years now and managed to stabilize my life. Now im trying to catch up on the things i truly love . Taught my self to sight read. I have twins that are 10 months old. Sometimes if I'm practicing I will sit them on my lap, and help them hold the bow as I'm practicing they absolutely love it. I'm trying to become fluent enough to atleast capture their attention. Hopefully later in life it will give them an outlet at the very least. One of the first songs that I played for them around 3months old was gjango reinhardt, and grappelli minor swing. From djangology vol 6 . In a pinch when they would melt down if I put that song on immediately dead silence lol. Django and grappelli sparked my absolutely love for gyspy jazz.

Christian, you are doing a great job teaching "this old man." Been almost 2 1/2 months now. I'm getting the hang of it...thanks to you. Your method makes me 'Think" the fiddle rather than learn the fiddle. Great concept...Now play after me! Love it.

Super fun. I am just a beginner, and I really like listening to you play this. I also love the blues shuffle, and the slow blues lessons as well. I am working on Twinkle twinkle little star at the moment. I wonder if I can use that swing bowing there, sounds like a fun idea to me. Thank you, love your positivity, and I really enjoy those jam tracks, and lessons.

@@ChristianHowesViolin Hi Chris, OH YEAH. By the way i just saw your latest response to my other comment about more tutorials on this. Absolutely YES! I have been checking them out and they are really great in how they progress. Really like the double length backing groove. I'm beginning to see the method to the madness. And also the importance of leaving spaces between phrases. Of course easier said then done. Might take me a year(s) to get there but we have the time now :)

Good job - easy to practice... there are many tutorials in KZbin, but not everyone can show it good enough - do u know what I mean? I play the violin for so many years , but tutorials like this make fun and help me going on in beloved jazz music ... played the last 8 years too less ... family and so on. Thanks for your tutorials, I would cheer to use them for a Refreshing 👍🏻

Hey Christian, could you talk about your violins and what makes a good Jazz Violin? I've owned so many crap instruments that Classical players thought sounded "elegant" and a few good fiddles that the classical players weren't impressed with at all. I've played an original Roth and an Original Amati, which personally I thought my Mitten burg Copy was much better. I really wish you had been at Berklee back in 2000 when I attended their Jazz Violin Camp. John Blake was there, and I asked him if he would take me under his wing. All I got was "Man, You don't need Me". Cheers, jack

Hi Jack- why don’t you come hang in Asheville this summer at my camp?
@jackwilloughby239 Жыл бұрын
I'd love to! I lived there from the summer of 74 to 79. I learned how to play Fiddle from Arvil Freeman after studying Banjo and Guitar with Bucky Hanks. I then went to Tuscon and studied violin with Theodora McMillan at U of Az. If I can get my finances in order. It would be great to see some of the guys that are still around, Mike Hunter was a Monster on mandolin back in the day. Cheers, Jack@@ChristianHowesViolin
