Tbh I wouldn't. The big problem is these come from china with no safety restrictions; for all you know it could be absolutely basted with lead paints; not something you want to be handling for sure.

I looked into it and turns out most of them are safe, they use the same paints from the factory- usually when they are different it is because they didn't apply layers or prepare it properly, or do any additional things to it they were supposed to, like apply washes.

These videos are really useful. Play Arts are getting so expensive so it's tempting to gamble on these bootlegs that cost so much less than an authentic one.

+Bjørn Halfhand Yeah I totally agree with your point. Bootleg is a bit hit and miss and not fully support the real company but pricing of action figures these day sky rocket very high in a past couple of years.

GlassArrow I bought the Play Arts Kai Wolverine (real one) for about $120 the other day but I was a little tempted by the $30 ones on eBay. Decided not to risk getting a poor bootleg then having to buy the legitimate one anyway. Helpful videos though, keep up the good work :)

K - RAD well done, good price. Is that US though? I'm in Europe, just converted prices to dollars as I assumed other posters would know dollars more than other currency. Did see some good prices in US but by the time you add postage, import duties, European VAT, the charges from the courier to pick up the package and pass through customs etc etc you're not saving much. Out of curiosity, where did you see the $45 price?

Mine has swivels. They were stuck though. After applying some light heat from my heat gun they loosened up and worked fine.mine also came in a great looking box that's nearly impossible to tell the difference from the real one.

I had an issue with a bootleg neca kratos, its shoulders wouldn't move at all, until I said fuck it and used a lot of force going for either move or break, and they moved! PS: I saw retail boxed versions of bootleg deadpool for sale

This is the reason why I collect Hot Toys figures. They are so high in quality no bootlegs comes close, if you handled Hot Toys figure before you'll know. Not saying Play Arts Kai is a ripoff, remember guys the company needs to pay royalty fees to Marvel and the R&D cost money. The bootleggers didn't have to pay for fees and they simple copy the design instead of hiring people to do R&D.

Boxes that look almost identical to the real ones, it's 10 dollars more though.

I live in Thailand so there's a lot of bootlegs toys and figures from China. Usually I contact with my local stores who import bootleg directly from China and ask them about the news and the quality of the figure. Also, there is a toy marketplace in Thailand with sell tons of bootlegs so I get to see what I am getting beforehand.

Hey dude I went on DHgate and they sell bootleg copies of play arts kai. I was looking at the catwoman one and the images he uses are directly from the official version. I asked for a picture of his versiona and he gave me a low resolution image of it in the box with plastic around it so I can't even see any detail haha. He is charging $60 with free shipping for it which is less then half the price of original so not bad at all, but I was concerned it would be a very bad copy. Where do you get your knockoff versions?

I live in Thailand, so I get it from my local hobby store or local online stores. Most of them openly said that they are bootleg. Some though say they are "Chinese version" which is a totally sly way of saying bootleg. A few try to rip people off by showing real version image and never show the real picture.

I got it from my local hobby store in Thailand. Most KO Play arts Kai can be found in Ebay, Aliexpress, make sure the price is the rate of bootleg play arts kai (usually around 30-50 usd)

Safwan Ar hi i just bought the boxed bootleg pl-art kai WOLERINE FOR BOUT 53.0$USD EBAY, its identical in box acessories articulation but Not in its paint quality its not done badly at all, but his face/arms all flesh looks dirty like he needs a bath after a fight. Honestly, i kinda knew that going in but it doesnt lbother me or look bad at all, dare i say it actually works for a character like wovlerine, it may have been done on purpose by its designers, it also DOES NOT HAVE THE KAI LOGO BLACK-RED TRIANGLE in top bottom corners. I like mine i have both authentics/bootlegs theyre almost identical in quality. Glad he told us about Deadpools thigh articulation, that is important for posing. Wolverine ko has exact artic. As original hope this helps try viewing mikes knock off reviews, toys ect. Helpful

+Etunic Indonesia The main miss paint I see is the battle damged around the armor and swords/katana which are a bit more overdone than the real one. Other than that and a slightly different tone of metallic color from the authentic, it's quite properly painted.

Easy way to tell is if it is unopened and there is a plastic sheet over the figure inside the box, that's a bootleg.
