the original one was designed in the '70, back then designs were pretty crappy in almost every field, fashion, cars, domestic appliances, super hero costumes etc. Star wars designs were among the best from those years of aesthetic horrors.

Finally found this guy, $75 on eBay! Cross-referenced various legit releases and bootlegs and I can definitely confirm he's real (if anyone wants to know, through my various hours of research the biggest signs are that the serial numbers under vader's box are uneven whereas bootleg's are even, no circle stickers, and the bootleg's cape doesn't glisten).

I'm one of those folks who would be put off by them messing with classic look but at the same time this is very badass. Still prefer classic vader look at the end of the day, but fucking badass. Pretty much a Manga version of Vader.

I'm guessing you're not very familiar with PlayArt Kai huh? Well anyways PlayArt Kai always exaggerate their figures making it into pretty much their own anime-ish version rather than using the existing model/ designs.

+Agent Orange Yes from China, and the quality isn't as good at all. You can check the bottom of the box though for the authentication stamp, and the quality of the figure itself.

First time I saw this figure I fell in love with the new interpretation of Darth Vader ! I don't own any Play Art figures or even display pieces as such, but this one I just had to have. So I'm waiting for mine to arrive any day now from Hobby Link Japan.

This darth vader is awesome. I got him as part of a $150.00 lucky bag bundle deal from Tokyo Otaku Mode, and I checked it to make sure it was authentic though I was 100% sure since they do not sell knock offs. There is a reason some of them are cheaper, and that is due to them being cheap knock offs. They do have ones of this figure to from China so be sure you check your resources for the real deal if you are wanting that. You can check the bottom of the box for the authentication stamp . The real ones look different in quality as well. I absolutely love mine, and I got a pair of storm troopers from as well that went great with him.

Been reviewing 6” Vader figures. Thanks very much for reviewing this because someone just made an offer of $75 for a proven authentic one that is not damaged in any way. I think I need to get this. I customized my Rogue One Mafex Vader, but this is on a whole different level as most Play Arts Kai figures are made. Great review!

I'm a big star wars fan and I like collecting darth vader figures, I thought at first this was weird but I actually really like it. It's an interesting design, of course I like the classic more but this is a lot more menacing. The muscles also aren't a problem to me because David Prowse who was in the suit was actually a really big body builder, so they make sense. The more I look at this the more I like it.

So I got this figure and was extremely pleased. I went back to check on my Stormtrooper and Boba order from AmiAmi and my order shows as Stormtrooper x2 and no Fett for some reason. I mailed them to fix it for me and I lost one trooper and still no Fett. Now it's sold out everywhere. Fml

And the hand sculpted into the saber problem is they may have thought the saber was too heavy with the trailing light to fit snugly into a regular hand. I know it's not the best reasoning but it may not have worked as well as a detachable saber and so they wanted to insure that the saber would look good and stay in well by scuplting the actual hand on it

to those who complain about his muscles, his arms weren't cut off at the shoulder they were both cut off just above the elbow. So he could have some biceps especially if he was increasing his physical attributes with sith alchemy.

Don't have any Play Arts Kai but this Vader looks amazing as hell!!! Being a Starwars fan might as well get this. But I think they should have went for a lighting effect hand instead of the red flame. But overall very nice fig, good review.

I got mine a while ago and I was only disappointed with two things. One pain application was that the brown of the eye leaked or smeared onto the black of the mask in the corner. And that the helmet seem...uneven. I've wondered if it's a knock off but I can't tell. It has a serial number though but I've read that doesn't always mean much now.

Wow....best figure I have seen u review I'm big star wars fan and I think this is how Darth Vader should have been because Darth Vader is supposed to be strong but in the movies he Braley moves his arm during battle his is not agile as others but this varient is amazing his looks strong and more dark and evil.....i Wish the head was a bit bigger but it's a 10 of 10 .....out of my years wanting to collect I have only one figure and it came broken the hinge on the arm is to lose and falls off but for sure I must have this figure

When I first saw this figure posted on BBTS, I was on the fence about it. However, in watching your video & getting some very good close ups, I'm SOLD!!! My only critique is that I agree in that the cape does look too much like Batman. Would you be able to customized the cape? Looking forward to you critiquing the upcoming Stormtrooper & Boba figures. Will there be other STAR WARS figures produced?

hey anthony do u have any recommendations of good stands for play arts kai that have spring grips and can support the figure in the air because the play arts kai stands cannot support the weight of some figures. i'm looking for stands similar to hot toy's dynamic figure stand but those are fairly hard to find. thanks.

So many things wrong with this canonically. Lightsabers can't do swooshy slashes like that, Vader isn't strong enough to pull off a force effect like that life drain one. This is a suit Vader should have though because his normal suit is actually a pretty old design. He never upgraded it because it caused him pain & helped him stay more in contact with the Dark Side.

While I think Play Arts Kai looks like a bunch of junk to me, Darth Vader.....actually looks kind of cool. His design isn't stupid like any of the other play arts kai figures, just looks like his normal design with a few details, and that light saber looks pretty F-ing cool! I might pick him up, just cause Star Wars means so much to me when I was Knee high.
