On Soul Reaver - you can't use the second analog stick to look around in the PS1 version. But there is a button in both versions that lets you look around from (almost) first person perspective, this is how you are supposed to look up and down.

If you like playing as the villain, try Deception IV: Blood Ties for PS3 (or its PS4 update). You play as the scantily-clad daughter of the devil setting traps for heroes trying to stop her from resurrecting her father, who was sealed away eons ago. It's like a demented version of Mouse Trap, with sometimes Rube Goldberg-ian contraptions to stop the heroes come to stop you.

the tecmo's deception series lets you play as the bad guy setting up your castle with traps monsters and such for the heroes to succumb to. you guys should definitely cover them in an episode sometime

Razial was originally a noble human vampire slayer that Kain raised from the dead along with his brethren to become vampires and latter a soul reaver. I don't know if you can consider him a bad, or good guy. He keeps the balance between good and evil.

In Soul Reaver 2, you actually get to meet Sarafan warrior Raziel and he's a nasty piece of work, making wraith Raziel look like a much more likeable guy.

For the possible sequel of this episode I suggest you *Under the Skin* (PS2) and *Devil's Deception* (PSX). Also, I don't know how much you can be considered 'villain', if you fight bad guys and monsters... like that Penguin. And *War* is not a bad guy, he's not 'evil to be evil'. It's his job and he's just a badass merciless main character like many others. (even too nice, most of the time) *CRATOS* is a villain! Dammit, even Katamari Damachii is more evil than the Penguin and War.

You forgot to mention Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. You play as a young vampire , feeding on the blood of the innocent, getting caught up in the plans of other vampires. You can kill people, enslave them with your blood, etc.

Why a stupid HD Remaster? Why not a complete remake like they did with Shadow of the Colossus? Giving the opportunity to iron out all the old flaws at the same time? To play Soul Reaver in HD, all you need is the PC version... or an Emulator. So a true "Remake" should be the goal.

Try the first two Destroy All Humans games for the PS2 at some point if you get the chance. They're available on PS4 as part of the PS2 classics lineup and well-deserved, they are MUCH better games than the PS3 one you showed in this one. You wouldn't regret it :p

Soul Reaver was one of my favorite PS1 games. I was pretty upset when I lost the disc. Fortunately I got the PC version not long ago when it was on sale. The PC version runs pretty much like the PS1 version, including the low framerate and wobbling polygons. (Why?) But a patch lets it run at 60 fps like the Dreamcast version. No improved models though, but there's widescreen as a tradeoff. Oh, and the right analog stick had no function in the PS1 version, camera was mapped to the shoulder buttons and only to pan left or right, just as on DC. I believe it had to be that way to support non-analog controllers as most PS1 games where like that.

Shane the Freestyler the DC version with a VGA cable looks great. The pc version is just the PS version ported over. DC got new character models and other improvements. I think it controls better on DC because the dpad is right under the stick so shifting planes is quick/easy.

Yeah, unfortunate for the PC version, that includes the low-quality FMVs, models, jittery polygons, no vibration, and no analog support. Too bad there's no patch for that. The widescreen/60fps patch is nice, but it would've been a lot better if all the DC enhancements could be patched in as well.

Well, there's a game named Hell Yeah where you play as a bunny skeleton from hell. If Prinny counts, Cthulhu Saves The World does also. That game is incredibly cheap but also very good, and comes along with the developer's previous game.

Finally ....legacy of kain ....my tip is their is a free look button to look around, and you use the teleport pads to get to where you need to be quickly, their is one right at the beginning and you have to activate them to use them so look for doors with glyphs on to find them

The only thing I really remember about Army Corp of hell was their marketing campaign where they had a guy in a costume going around acting like an evil overlord at conventions and stuff. He sounded like Yuri Lowenthall...'cause I think he may have been Yuri Lowenthall...They were pretty funny, but didn't have much to do with the game.

Mario does show up at the end of Super Mario Land 3, so he is in it a little bit. Also, Wario Land 3 is my favourite game of all time. Also also, War isn't really evil so much as punished for a crime he didn't commit. If anything, it's the Charred Council who are evil. Though I guess if War works for them, and they are evil, then he is evil by proxy. Still, it's not his fault.

Yeah I figured in the context of the game he's not so evil but in general he will take your life without thinking twice. I'll have to try Wario Land 3 again. See if it grabs me this time. My favorite Wario game believe it or not was on the VIrtual Boy.

Ah, the "dood" is a translation of a Japanese tropey verbal tick of having 'su at the end of the sentences. The 'su tick isn't nearly as bad as "dood" because it's much more subtle

The controls on soul reaver (DC) are much better than the PS1 version. Also you can look up/down by holding both triggers. I just replayed the entire LoK series. Great games.

Well, there are some games where you can do some pretty evil things. Tyranny you pretty much control an emissary of an evil conqueror and to accomplish some of yours goals, you can even kill a mother and her baby. Fallout 2 you can sell people into slavery, kill an entire population (including the children), become a mobster for the cassinos... I feel a bit weird mentioning Undertale here since it's a weird game, but hey, you can go genocide route (it's fun too). Planescape you can also make Nameless One do some shady things... The thing with these games that I mentioned is that you don't really play an evil character per se. You just have the control of his/her actions, so it makes being evil more of a choice.

Many thanks for covering Soul Reaver - it's my favourite franchise. 2 of the future games allow you to play as Kain so that's pretty badass. PS - You can look up if you hold the button & press down (unintuitively) - but yes you have to stop moving. The game has tons of replay value as there are scores of secrets to discover & as for dying & starting at the beginning - careful use of the warp gates means you don't have to walk through the whole lot & can start much closer to where you died.
