it’s so irritating that beatsaber not only has a small amount of songs to chose from, but also forces you to buy songs after you’ve already bought the game. don’t get me wrong, the free songs are not only fun, but easy to listen to.. but it isn’t feel like enough for what i’ve payed.

Well, they have to ask for permission to use these artists' songs otherwise they will get copyrighted, but I completely understand where you're coming from.

Yeah I'm hoping that in the future beat saber is able to reach some sort of larger deal for getting custom songs. Basically they could operate like Pandora and create a library of songs that people could create custom maps for and people could play for free with advertisements or pay a subscription fee for no ads. That's the only way I see that legally working. Who knows, maybe they can buy Pandora, or be bought by Pandora to achieve this. However I've read from a custom map maker that they would hate this because they tweak and tailor the song to beat saber so much that they think that stock songs would lessen the experience. That's maybe a justified handoff for more access to legal songs.

@@alexjohnson6993 correct. It is a copywrite issue, which is why Beat Saber has to license the songs that it uses. It is also against the agreement, made with Oculus, qnd it makes it very clear when you try to set this up. I started doing it, and it warns, multiple times, that doing this mod can result in being banned. They don't want to encourage, or allow, illegal actions on their machine. Since people are complaining about being banned for "no reason", I don't want to give them a reason.

For all the people having trouble getting beatsaber mods the reason why is that the game got an update recently making all mods ineffective. You just have to wait for a new version of the mods to come out. I will edit this comment when the mods are fixed. Edit: I’m a bit late but there’s been a few nightly releases made. They’re very risky though and I’ve heard that they can break your headset. Edit 2: I’m pretty sure it works now!

Hey for anyone having trouble with the newest version, You have to update bmbf (duh) but make sure to go to tools and press quick fix. I spent about 2 hours trying to reinstall everything multiple times and only once i did the quick fix it worked. Waning bmvf will redownload all your songs which can be long. Hope this helps :)

With the latest updates it complains a LOT when you run beat saber. I had to reboot and reupload the custom songs from the app you mention and it worked. It seems the "normal" and "hard" from these songs are a LOT tougher than the "pay for" ones that you can get from purchasing packs. I appreciate your coverage - it's an even more addictive game with the new songs.

Have two very important questions: Can you get in trouble for downloading mods to your Oculus Quest? I don't want to render my Quest useless because Facebook gets mad or something. Only thing I actually had trouble with (on a Quest 2) was syncing the songs with OneClick. It didn't want to do it as automatically as this video showed. So what I did was: - Create a BeastSaber account - Bookmark the songs I wanted (can do this on computer for way quicker navigation) - Go to SyncSaber tab inside BMBF - Fill in my username under SyncSaber Feeds, and select the 'Bookmarks' option (and click queue) So if you're having trouble with the other option, try that. (It's supposedly not 100% reliable though.)

I did this 2 days ago and it did require quite a few steps, but otherwise went well, although a few of the songs just produce a spinner that never stops. Might just delete and reinstall those ones. It reeeeeally boosts the game's longevity -- I played for 2 hours straight earlier!

Spinner that never stops typically means you require Mapping Extensions.

The only way you could get banned is if you pirated a game, and sideloaded it / sideloaded hacks for multiplayer games. Modding beat saber removes your ability to use the ost scoreboard so by modding beat saber your not doing anything technically wrong.
