I think I remember this from when I was four years old. Watching all these years later is great, seems so familiar. Amazingly good piano and drum accompaniment. Well done everybody involved in Play School !

There used to be more editions on KZbin, but sadly, they're gone. Hopefully they'll be uploaded again soon, though. But this was definitely the golden era of Play School, the 1960s to the early 1980s is probably what I'd classify to be Play School's treasure chest. If I'm not mistaken, Julie Stevens and Jon Glover were the presenters for that specific week, and we had many others as well, like Sarah Long, Derek Griffiths, Johnny Ball, Gordon Rollings, Diane Dorgan, Floella Benjamin and, of course, the legendary Brian Cant, such a shame Brian didn't really get the recognition he deserved, in my eyes, Brian was a thousand times better than half of the modern CBEEBIES presenters are now.

that's interesting because this was shown three days after my fourth birthday!

I was not yet five here, so the right age group for this programme. Remember watching it with Carol Chell presenting. I also recall going to Playgroup around this time! Now aged fifty four.

Who were your favourite presenters on Play School? Did you have any favourites, or do any pop into mind now?

@@philyroberts72 I wasn't even born then, yet somehow, this is the definitive children's programme. Unlike most stuff you get on CBEEBIES nowadays.

@@ORDEROFTHEKNIGHTSTEMPLAR13 All of them were great, anyhow. Brian Cant and Johnny Ball being two prime examples everyone remembers. Derek Griffiths, Eric Thompson, Floella Benjamin and Fred Harris are quite popular ones as well

That’s how I remember Play School, back in the 70s with that clock! Also the windows, and I always wanted them to go through the arched window for some odd reason! 🤣

Seems like such a different era. The brown and beige, the clear diction, the high-quality, if not slightly patronising, presentation. The female presenter looks like a librarian.

I was already too old for Play School in 1975, and Mum would probably have had something to say if she had found me watching. still enjoy watching these and other 60s/70s children's shows. Do not like todays politically correct nonsense.

What era were you from? Was it the black and white 60s era of the program with presenters like Marla Landi, Eric Thompson and Gordon Rollings?
@michaelhaywood8262 Жыл бұрын
@@RandomGuy-qh7tl Yes. All TV was black and white until 1967. Even then only a minority of programmes were broadcast in colour and only the very rich could afford colour sets. I do not remember the presenters. I could not watch Play School then, in the 60s as our set was the 405 line VHS, and got only BBC1 and ITV.A625 line set [either colour or b/w]was needed to receive BBC2. We switched to 625 b/w in around 1970/71 by which time I was too old for Play School.
