Hey jim, iv been playing for about 9 months or so and i have really wanted to learn “there is a time” i know you have already done a little video on it but for some reason i cant seem to get it right. I hear the forward rolls and all but for some reason i just cant get it. I would really really love it if you just did a quick tutorial on it or another demonstration on it. I really love this song and have wanted to learn it since i started playing the banjo. Weird thing is iv done much more difficult songs. Even other dillard songs like Doug’s tune without a problem. This one just gives me trouble. Please please do a little demonstration. Thank you so much jim you have taught me so much.

HI Jim! I'm brand new to banjo. I did your other intro banjo series of lessons and they've been incredibly encouraging and helpful. I learned Shady Grove as you teach it in this video, but somehow I still can't get it to sound how it does when you play it in the intro. Are you incorporating forward rolls or hitches or something? It sounds fuller when you play it than when i do

I really like this arrangement! I just learned shady grove in E-minor, and I'm a banjo newbie - is this arrangement basically to accommodate the fact that D-minor requires a different tuning to play without going insanely up the neck?
@JimPankey
@JimPankey 3 жыл бұрын
It's in D Minor because I learned it there for the guy I played it for that I talked about in the video. Not really much of a different tuning... I actually never "count" 5th string changes as a "different" tuning.
