Hi Marty, I just wanted to say thanks for helping my dad learn to play the guitar at nearly 60! He's wanted to play guitar forever and when I picked it up (I've been playing approximately 17 years give or take now) he always really enjoyed listening! It's been a lifelong dream of mine to get him to a skill level of playing where we can jam on a 12 bar blues together and in the past month or so after watching your videos, we're finally able too! Keep making the great videos, Mike

This is a great lesson for me because I’ve been doing the Blues Learning Path on TrueFire, been playing for 14 months total, very serious student-originally a sax player and Berklee alumni to be transparent, so of course I ‘get it’-but everything I learned so far is sort of partitioned. I can play all the chord, riffs, licks, turnarounds, slide, bend, hammer and pull, barre chords, all the basics. But if you said to me, “Play a basic twelve bar Blues,” I didn’t know how to do that without the music in front of me. I could solo over the changes in pentatonic, play it in a different key, even sight read, but even the basic jam night progression I learned is about ten chords not counting embellishments. So thanks for making me ready for the impromptu Blues jam. I needed the break from my usual strict practice routine.

After learning all the basic chords and putting them together and making my own sounds up and learning some basic classics, I wanted to start playing the blues chords. So I went looking and surprise surpirse Marty has some blues lessons. This particular video has made me feel like I can actually play the guitar with some good Rhythm and sounds for the first time. I watch this video over and over again and just play along with marty. I wanted to comment on the video just to say thank you for all of the videos you make and it was a joy to learn and to continue learning from your easily understandable methods of training. So cool dude. I’m actually so glad I waited till now to learn because I can’t imagine my trying to learn this one lesson a week or so the old way. I’m not sure I could have done it. I’m retired and absolutely loving this. I’ve tried several other on line instructors and only had one in person local hour lesson now in my first six months of the only music I’ve ever tried. This is actually the only hobby I’ve ever done that failure didn’t result in busted teeth or limbs. I was hair on fire extreme adrenaline junkie for over 40 years and it seems so crazy now that I can have so much fun and fast gratification without leaving the house. This absolutely addictive! Not in a million years would I had ever imagined playing all the songs you’ve taught me now. I’m only saying this now because I went back to the beginning of your lessons to see if I missed anything and I found these Blues lessons. I also never thought I would love to play something so much. God I feel so closed minded and stupid now. This is some really cool music and I’m so glad I didn’t miss this stuff. Thanks so much for enriching my life so much! You Rock!

Thanks for the lessons marty, I've had too much free time in quarantine and been really depressed. Decided to learn the guitar, and there's no better genre for this time than the blues, and your lessons have been super illuminating. Been picking it up really fast. You're a great teacher.

As for me, I can't look at a video and suss out chord fingerings. I really really appreciate how you show us the chords and fingering. So many others go too fast. Great lesson. I'll be tuning in to your lessons more.

Ok so I clicked on this video because I was learning from a rather old guitar book about the blues, and I had a question about the "cutting back on your strums section, and he just answered it in the first three seconds. so thanks man.

Finally. I’ve tried for two decades to get a simple breakdown of this. I can’t afford lessons. Didn’t have parents to get me a guitar etc. Thank god for youtube. Cause 25 years ago I had to just give up. You can only get so far sitting alone in a room spending years just figuring it out.

OK Marty I had given up trying to play but last year I desided to start again..doesn't matter if I'm never good enough to let people hear me or not .. it's just fun so I started looking for lessons on line. To put it simply, after looking at person after person teaching.. YOU GOT MY MONEY! Your lessons are well videoed , I can actually see what you are talking about and you have a great personality to teach. Informative and fun. Keep it up!

Thanks for doing this one. I’ve been playing for awhile and I never bothered to learn a 12 bar blues. Thanks for teaching it so well. I feel like I nailed this lesson.

Marty Dr Guy a colleague of mine put me onto you. He started playing about 4 years ago and has used you as his tutor and you should hear him play now! I am going to watch and learn from your demos and look forward to the journey sir. Thank you mate.

I play 11 bar blues cause after 11 bars being asked to pack my guitar and split, I make sure to get paid up front. Thanks Marty for your lessons. Using my old leadbelly Harmony Stella I catch the groove after playing blues on the trumpet for 60 years

Thanks for the lesson Marty. I watched it a couple of times while playing the guitar and understood a lot of it. I really like your approach. I'll need some practice working on those chords, maybe on my own, then come back for the next lesson. Thanks again.
