Great tutorials, as always! Is there a way to transpose audio files up or down in pitch without changing the original playback speed?

Thanks! Yes, this is possible, but not by using PlayBuf/BufRd alone. When using PlayBuf/BufRd, changing the playback speed and changing the musical pitch are the same operation, so it's not possible to do one without the other. There are two approaches I like to use for musical transposition without duration changes. One uses delay lines with dynamically changing delay times, and the other uses real-time granular synthesis. Links below. You might be able to drop in at a specific timestamp, but I would recommend watching the full video to understand more clearly. delay-based pitch shifter: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3bcinmqaNh8jdU granular pitch-shifter: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5-naaaqg6doqqc

@@elifieldsteel Thank you! I'll refer to these.

@@elifieldsteel Thanks again for those videos, Eli. I like the GrainBuf method for transposition. Is there any way to maintain the integrity of the original synth sound? I'm looping chords, and I notice a lot of the ambient synth sound goes away when running it through GrainBuf.

Anyone know what textbook was assigned for this class?

For this semester, I assigned my own book, which was complete but unpublished at the time. The book is now available: global.oup.com/academic/product/supercollider-for-the-creative-musician-9780197617007?cc=us&lang=en&
