Realistically, LOL is like many other sports. For example, in football, the Balon D’or often goes to the star player of whatever team wins the biggest trophy of that year. This year, T1 were average for a lot of the year, but when it mattered most, Faker made the difference, and Chovy/Bin didn’t get over the line.

I didn't even see Chovy as the best player in GenG last year. It's all about Canyon and Lehends making plays and Kiin bodying everyone out of fight, while Chovy and Peyz basically farming the entire game and do the clean up duty. I'm actually amazed why Gumayusi wasn't there when he's the most consistent player in T1 from beginning to end. Anyway, my take (which means my opinion and you're allowed to disagree no worries) is player of the year means the player with the most impact of that year, and I think Faker deserves that. With all the struggles T1 experienced, injury, ddos, stacked schedule, exhaustion, he still lead his team, and even carry T1 to lift the 5th trophy. He showed up when it matters most and combined with the fact that he's considered one of the oldest player now, with that level of play, he is indeed the player of 2024.

Caedral has said it before that the casters the analysts can only hype up a player so much but what confirms and continues there hype is the results. No matter how much chovy is hyped and praised for his consistency he just has not shown up for worlds. And if we are counting world clutch performances, honestly Kinn is more qualified than chovy. And this again confirms that playing safe is not game-winning. You just have to go out of the ordinary and make really impactful game-winning moves.

Faker defended and secured the worlds trophy himself. He, along with the rest of the team, proved to be the true champions. During the last 3 years, T1 is 3x Worlds finalist and back to back winner. They have never fallen below semi-finals(3rd) in any league. Domestics, MSI, Worlds despite all the odds were up against them(Faker's injury and rehab, ddos, crazy schedules etc). The other star named players are the ones who did not live up to their names when it mattered the most and failed to prove themselves.

Chovy never deserved it imo, he failed to win the 2 most important games of the year and only won 1/3 finals while Bin /Knight were more consistent in their year. Also Chovy was a major factor in their 2 series losses when he couldn’t outplay Zeka/Faker, he was NOWHERE near his peak from summer since they lost to HLE and he was average at best at worlds (for his standard that is). If I had to vote I’d have given it to Bin or Kiin imo they were the most consistent players of any role this year and had the biggest impacts in these high stakes games.

Problem is, no one remembers the loser. Runner-up is just another term for losers in League of Legends, bearing in mind that in any match, there are only two teams, so runner-up is second and the losing team. And it makes sense. There isn't a runner-up cup for their name to be etched onto to be remembered. Winners have there name engraved for people to see and remember for years to come.

First of all Faker ended 3rd in summer (they went to the lower finals), regionals are not a part of LCK summer's. And also why are people forgetting EWC. It is a league tournament and this is a league awards (not just riot awards). Sure many people dont like the formats, but the 8 teams competing in EWC are top tiers. So faker won 2/5 tournaments (ewc worlds) this year just like chovy (spring msi) and knight (spring summer). And faker won the biggest thropy.

You can't compare an actual summer performance to a hypothetical loss. The fact is t1 were 4th in summer, and in regional gauntlet were 1 single game away from not even making worlds. You can't call a team "team of the year" if they had a part of the tear where they were 4th and one game away from no showing worlds. Secondly fly quest deserve all the props in the world. They played at there best with off meta picks against a gen g team that went 3-0 in swiss and didn't play on stage for 2 weeks. Being auto qualify through swiss stage is awful cause of time off

@@silkthread7248 Idk about best 'GenG player', if you actually watch the games, although he's still a fantastic mid laner, Kiin, Canyon and Peyz were really making golden work on the map, so much so that it was almost easy for him to slip into his farm adc mid and carry 35 mins role. Having watched the games, Kiin completely gapped every top laner, including Zeus for 2 splits and MSI, and Canyon did a fantastic job of supporting Chovy on mid lane. I don't think faker should have won it, but Kiin/Knight/Bin should have definitely been more up for discussing than anyone else.
