Space Invaders by Player One (in USA released under the artist name Playback) was written & produced by Russell Dunlop and Bruce Brown in Sydney Australia in 1979/1980 and was a big pop / dance chart hit in Australia and also was a radio airplay hit in New Zealand and South Africa.

this is not nearly as obsolete or irrelevant song as you might think. For a small generation of kids growing u pi in the early 80;s, *THIS* song was the defining moment that separated the non-video game past from the brand new age of video games, that lasts to this day in 2021!

The bassline was used on a mashup/re-edit with bits from Donna Summer and Lipps Inc as well. When someone stole Jesse's copy he set out to re-create it with his synth and 808, adding some expletives inspired by the Danes in Laid Back as well. When it came out, many budding producers thought they could do better and from that a musical revolution begun

I could honestly listen to this song on repeat for an hour. I prefer this version to the polished version on iTunes. Wiki has it that Space Invaders was the 7th best selling single in Oz in 1980, peaking at No. 3 in the Kent Report (that the industry lived and died by at the time). Even from within the company bubble, for I worked for WEA at the time, we knew that we had a big one, we shipped it in its thousands a day. You're talking through your quoit.
