I know exactly how you feel! I am not (yet?) on the TPI server, but on a different one, with the express goal to one day daring to play a game myself. I have, so far, been to anxious to actually try, especially on a stream, even if it is expressly a beginner friendly game. I am so afraid of embarassing myself and somehow getting it immortalized on their Yotube that I just don't dare. So, for now I am not doing any of that yet and restrict myself to watching. Hoping that one day the idea of actually playing will not cause a anxious knot in me... or that I will be able to push through it and see that no one will eat me for being potentially bad at a game I've never played before.

JC here - thank you! The Mutant is my favourite character, but it's because it's about having to hide or a bad thing happens. So often I see people interpret it like the outsider version of the Virgin, and there's a key difference for me, and it's all down to that "might" word. As a Storyteller I firmly believe that if the Mutant is freely acknowledging they are an outsider, you should execute them for it at the point where it actively hurts town for you to do so and no sooner. Operation "get Ben to actually feel like he should hide the fact that he's the Mutant one day" is far from complete yet, but ongoing and in full force!

I had my first Amnesiac game last night, my ability was "Once per game at night, pick a player, you gain that players characters ability" I used it second night and chose the Lleech without knowing, and then chose to host the same host the real Lleech chose. Which was hilarious, when we went down to final 3, and we executed the Lleech host, and all three players died. Good won, and the entire town was dead. Hilarious. I love public games.

And yes, you are correct, the whole point of Atheist is that it's all of the players working together to solve the puzzle, unhindered by the existence of an evil team trying to thwart them. When it comes to an Atheist game, the answer to the question 'can the ST do this thing?' is always going to be 'yes'. But that is the wrong question to ask. Because the ST can do anything, the question then becomes 'should the ST do this?' which is a much harder question to answer. Generally speaking, it is considered a bad idea to put an evil team into an Atheist game, as you yourself have already noted.

Atheist is a complex character. Because you can break the rules, you CAN do anything, including break the rules of the Atheist character itself. Because of this, the relevant question ceases to be what you CAN do and becomes what you SHOULD do. You can make the Atheist evil and give them a Minion ability, effectively turning them into a Minion. You probably shouldn't do that though. The purpose of the Atheist is for the ST to create a fun puzzle for the players. If that puzzle is unsolvable due to heavy-handed rule-breaking, especially breaking the rules of the Atheist itself, you've probably gone too far. - Ben
