Last year the pacific championship was a fizzer, no one knew about it and it wasn't promoted. This year they have promoted and hyped it. The NZ V Kangaroos game played in sth Island sold out 2 weeks in advance, the final has sold out mid week. Tv ratings are up 40% on last year. For some context, Aus v Tonga rated higher than Wallabies v Sth Africia, Fiji v PNG rated higher than Wallabies v All Blacks. The pacific championship has big potential, not quite Origin level yet but headed in the right direction.

Great points @jnic2165 and it's been a really good watch this year. In PNG everyone is wearing league shirts all day every day in the street, their passion is so great to see for all of us who would love to see the game grow. There is a dark side of to it all on the island sadly with Australia 'exploiting' that natural paradise for it's mineral resources and natural gas. Capitalism at its worst.

Really enjoyed the episode as always. Think for venues (if we are being ambitious) Tottenham Everton or Etihad Elland Road or St James' Know it would require the tournament being renamed but we should be doing everything we can to get involved in the Pacific championships.

My hypothetical on mid-season tests to grow RL in 🇬🇧🇮🇪. 1- The Channel series 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇫🇷 2- Celtic Cup 🇮🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 3- Euro top 4 🇪🇺

Celtic Cup is a great shout, they need to playing each other regularly to start getting the squads upskilled. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 vs 🇫🇷 needs to br every year & really build on to get 🇫🇷 level up. Always tricky as 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 need to be playing top level countries, but we need to start somewhere. Great ideas.

​@@JoeSutcliffe80, I'm from the southern hemisphere, and I see potential with the Celtic Cup & Europe. IMO, if the celtic cup is successful, it should be rebranded as the "home nations series" when 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 joins while 🇫🇷 joins "Euro top 4".

Btw keep an eye out for Jeremiah Simbiken from PNG, he's a gun 2rf and would kill it in Super League. Moreso than Tai we feel. He's been a little quiet for PNG so far in these championships.

Great point about Junior Nsemba guys. He did look a little lost at sea, he had two try attempts and was pretty much through but seemed to lack the belief that he could score. We've seen a lot of 2RFs go through patches either early or late in seasons where they seem to not realise how powerful they are. It's probably a confidence issue at his age.

1. Wembley/Tottenham 2. Elland road 3. Etihad/Everton First test to attract the Large Aussie expat community in London, in October so not clashing with the England union potentially attract a few of them (not banking on it), first ashes game in forever so a lot of people will be eager to travel. Elland road is a sh*thole but it’s just off the m62 and very central compared to hull etc, very easy for anyone in either Yorkshire or Lancashire to travel there. RFL is headquartered on the Etihad campus so should be easy to negotiate but again the new Everton stadium could potentially attract people to go check it out.
