Last year the pacific championship was a fizzer, no one knew about it and it wasn't promoted. This year they have promoted and hyped it. The NZ V Kangaroos game played in sth Island sold out 2 weeks in advance, the final has sold out mid week. Tv ratings are up 40% on last year. For some context, Aus v Tonga rated higher than Wallabies v Sth Africia, Fiji v PNG rated higher than Wallabies v All Blacks. The pacific championship has big potential, not quite Origin level yet but headed in the right direction.

On the Samoa sin bin, i think you guys are missing a little context with watching in the ground and not on TV. The yellow wasn't given because that particular high tackle was yellow worthy by itself, it was given because this was the 4th piece of ill discipline that the ref had to pull Samoa up for and he felt that then deserved punishment. This also counters your argument about subbing a player on after a yellow. I like the idea and understand it, but in the case of Samoa and their ill discipline letting them sub a player on and continuing with 13 when the point was to punish them for multiple transgressions would be letting them off the hook and make the threat of a yellow ineffective. A bit like how it is ineffective in football.

It's a shame England only played twice in this window. Could have played France after the Samoa games

Indeed, I know France had to play a couple of qualifiers, but they could of played this weekend definitely
