The Carribbean makes for a grander final Disney world than the actual final Disney world. Not that I dislike San Fransoyko, but it's just smaller in nearly every regard. Not sure how much involvement the team for POTC movies had, though probly not that much given they're more mainstream Hollywood people and have other movie projects to work on. Crab Replica Jack feels more like something Nomura would come up with. The number of live-action worlds that would fit KH is getting really small. The black box bit in this world is great. Like "Oh. His... his actual, physical heart. Welp." I love how Sora has a big, magical key that he can access at any time and use as a weapon, and he just... starts punching Davy Jones in the head. Actually, why didn't they have any of Davy Jones' crewmen as enemies in this game? I know they're technically supposed to be unkillable (on account'a being dead already and all) But Sora's other-ness has already broken the rules of this world once. Hell, they could even say that the keyblade has a weird property where the crewmen get freed from the crew if Sora cuts them down, since getting killed by the keyblade releases your heart; or that the magic of The Dutchman makes it so if a crewmen's body is every annihilated completely (by something like otherworldly magic, for example), the crewman just... respawns on the ship (for lack of a better term). They also could have been the reason why SDG weren't helping in the fight with Davy Jones, rather than implying that they like... killed the Kraken off screen, I guess. Hold up; how does Kairi know about that plan? ...Does she get signal for Kingstagram in the enchanted forest? Ya know, it bother me that in like TWO TEN MINUTE CUTSCENES, Kairi builds a more believable relationship with Axel than she EVER had with Sora.

Re Trivia: IN addition to using the childrens' restlessness as an excuse for his own agenda, it sounds as though this person was inexperienced with children. A child sitting still for at least an hour straight is as possible as it is for a cat to bark. Never gonna happen. Children are just restless particularly back then before screens were such a staple of life. I have a vague memory of my mom taking me to a theater showing of _Snow White_ when I was about five and having to leave in the middle of it because I wasn't able to sit through it. Granted I've never been a huge fan of Snow White, I'm fairly certain that is not the reason we had to leave, and my oldest niece who is turning 7 later this month only ever sits still with her tablet and sometimes not even then. Speaking of Katzenberg nearly wrecking a momentous film thanks to his meddling, there was also another one that wouldn't be here if was followed through: Toy Story. Basically during production, Katzenberg had these notes that insisted the crew play up the "cynical" aspects of the movie in order to be seen as "adult." He got his wish when Pixar previewed an animatic that was basically a precursor to the scene where Woody knocks Buzz out the window. Instead of it being an accident where Woody intended Buzz to just safely fall behind the desk in time for Andy to pick him, only for it to snowball into consequences he didn't want; Woody deliberately grabbed Buzz's arm and threw him out the window and everyone saw him do it. It gets worse, Woody denies culpability and gets verbally abusive to everyone to the point every one gets fed up and nearly throws him out themselves before Andy shows up. Katzenberg got his wish and everyone who worked on it hated it, Woody was despicable and nobody could root for him. This event became known as the "Black Friday Cut." Toy Story was nearly scrapped when the crew became vocal that they could salvage everything if they were given a few days, to which the higher ups relented, and Pixar was allowed to write Toy Story the way they wanted. This moment, along with several others, would contribute Disney's decision in firing Katzenberg.

Now I'm wondering why across basically ALL industries is custom to have only business/administrator guys at the very top? I agree that sometimes that outside and more money minded point of view is necessary but even aerospace, an industry that has little to share with animation, is littered with stories where a lot of people "on the ground" clearly stated THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA but the management totally disregarded the message. And there you don't get a flop, there you get casualties.
@rmsgrey4 жыл бұрын
The thing is, it's a lot easier to find someone who's good at whatever it is the company does and someone else who's good at management than to find someone who's good at both, so it makes a lot of sense to specialise. But then, there are a couple of things that can go wrong. One is that middle management can insulate the people making the decisions from the people who know the work, so the engineers/animators/cashiers/whoever can try sending messages that there's a problem up through the hierarchy, but what makes it to the top is incomplete, garbled, or unconvincing. Another is that management operates in a fairly abstract world of negotiation and people, where stubbornness and charm can achieve just about anything and "impossible" is just a strong negotiating position, not a literal truth, so the idea that something really can't (or shouldn't) be done despite the boss commanding it isn't really something they grasp, not deep down where it matters. Anyway, having a good administrator with no understanding of the business can lead to problems, but having someone who understands the business but is bad at administration will lead to problems.
@theophrastusbombastus80194 жыл бұрын
@@rmsgrey Usually most companies managements start with 100% expert of their field and end up with 100% businessmen. I have yet to see a good example where there is a sort of balance, even a couple of people close to the actual work on the board of directives can make the difference in critical decision making.
@kbahrt4 жыл бұрын
@@theophrastusbombastus8019 It varies. A publicly traded company is likely to have that happen because the 'owners' are interested in the returns, and business people are much better at massaging metrics to make them happy than people actually doing things. I've also seen a lot of instances where the middle management isn't about getting the job done, but sticking to the budget. This gets especially bad if departments have to interact, but have independent budgets rather than pulling against a project budget. There's also the constant issue of nepotism or whatever the equivalent of the top level manages promoting the people they work with rather than the people that got the job done out in the field. And there's always the ever popular Peter Principle. For your consideration: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHzSo4NraqakrMk

This other thing that I'm already doing on my shift doesn't require that much time and energy, and I'll be spending like 25-50% of my time waiting for the machine to process. While I appreciate your candor in regards to Eisner's influence preventing Disney from going under, Iger coming along to basically create the near unstoppable monolith that is Disney makes me wonder that even with all these good things, Disney is almost solely responsible for ruining copyright law for the next century or more, becoming a near monopoly to stifle innovation in creative fields, not to mention how many non-entertainment businesses it already owns, and how so much influence should not be allowed to gather under one roof. What I'm trying to say is, perhaps it would have been better if Disney went under and never recovered. Or we need anti-trust laws back, and in force, to keep Disney restrained, or Disney needs to die before it becomes a more sinister version of Amazon. Luxord's words about the box confuse me a bit. The box contains hope? Shouldn't that be Pandora's Box? Pandora was said to open the box and let all the evils out into the world, but hope remained in the box. But Maleficent and Pete discounted Pandora's Box at the beginning of the game. It's kind of weird. Maybe a weird artifact from the Japanese writing team and translation?

And also maybe why they suspected Pandora's Box of being the box they sought as well. If more than one box contains "Hope", then you could mistake one for the other. A couple of cool little tips. (I've yet to watch this episode, but I thought they'd be helpful for the future). Cure spells and all that use the REST of your magic bar. That means you can use Thundaga or a bunch of these little spells and just save a sliver to have as contingency should you need emergency heals! (Thundaga is also a really cool magic spell. I recommend using it a lot, but that's all up to you). Furthermore, if you get several Triangle commands, you can switch between them by pressing up on the D-pad. I noticed in an earlier episode that you said you had to use the form change before you could do another move. Just move through the list with the D-Pad and you're golden :D Love the series. It's always so much fun!
@MiseFreisin4 жыл бұрын
While the first part bears repeating, you can see from the Davy Jones fight that Dan already has the second part (switching triangle commands) down. Pretty sure it's come up before this, too. For today's trivia, I could understand why many people refer Katzenberg as 'petty asshole' or variants. For this trivia, I'm gonna read Disney Wars to understand better the Renaissance era.

Ok So it all started out with Sly cooper The third game in the series with the final hub world Dead men tell no tales They started the naval combat Years later Assassins creed 3 comes out and takes that idea and improves it Then 4 revolutionizes it And everyone looked in awe and said hey Let’s aspire to do this And thus we have Kingdom Hearts 3 Pirates of the Black Flag Honor among thieves

I've been wondering if for the Pirates Universe and mechanics they've used some stuff from the PotC MMO game that Disney had running (don't know if it's still a thing). Also, why does Elizabeth Swan and Becket look so off? I mean, most other characters look fine or at least a bit like their original actor.

how bad is it that at the 54 minute mark, i thought that was Xemnas, not Ansem: Seeker of darkness up until the shadow thing popped up? same person i suppose, so makes sense?

There are too many versions of ansem and xehanort. I wasn’t sure which these were either...

Seriously would be down for a grindy/exploration episode, tbh. Or a Lofi Gummi Ship episode, lol. I feel like we ran a marathon.
