This whole mall looks like a Dead Rising set. I can already hear Frank West yelling at survivors like you & me.

I remember when those seating areas facing the windows on the top floor were filled with real sand. I still miss the old Ocean One Mall that was on this site before they built the Pier Shops.

The lack of sand was one of the things we noticed right off as well.

Yeh the sand is gone i used to stick my feet in that. This place did not to seem to last long yeh i guess 2016 2017 was the decline.

Best video out there on this place. Looks like it was awesome to hang out in during its heyday.

We hung out there a couple times in 2010-ish. It was quite nice. Not a single thing I could buy!

Remember visiting I believe in 2010. We went looking for shoes on our AC trip and I remember not much people were there at all. I figured cause it was around 5pm at the time. Great video as always. Sad to see it like that now. Wow.
@RawRealRetail4 жыл бұрын
One of the few times we visited during that time frame was during a big event they were holding on the boards and the place was not exactly packed but busy enough. It certainly was a fair bit fancier than today!

@@RawRealRetail Yeah back in its hey day and when AC was booming I bet it was amazing to be there. Definitely it lost a lot of people over the years. I was surprised how not crowded it was back when. Now it's pretty much nothing. Really sad😩

I read your description and I’m glad you didn’t say the actual name of the virus. Personally, 2019 was a bad year for me and putting that year in the virus’ name just annoys me

I've been to Atlantic City a few times. The architecture is amazing!

Last time I went here was in 2012 when me and my ex took a day trip down. They had a lighted fountain that periodically played little light and music shows, but I see it's gone now. You know as late as 1995 they had a bustling open air arcade in the back of the first floor. At one time they had big walls of TVs playing music videos in it too. I think I took a video on my old phone of the fountain from 2012. I ought to upload it.

I remember the arcade they had at the back end of the first floor when it was still Ocean One in the 90's. The last time I was there they had already converted it to the high end Shops At Ocean One or whatever it was called. I walked around, had a chuckle because there were no stores that I would shop in and left. I haven't been back to Atlantic City in years since then.

“We can’t paint this picture unless we all grab a brush...” this mall honestly gives me hotel vibes more than mall vibes!

That's really interesting! It used to be a rather well-to-do fashion mall. I remember not finding a single thing I could afford when we visited 10-ish years ago.

Tanger Outlets in Atlantic City seemed to be taking away business from this mall, which led to some of the stores moving to the outlets such as Victoria's Secret.

They covered the fountain up with wood a few years ago, then blocked off the entire wing from being accessible.

Much preferred the ocean liner design back in 1996. My favorite place to go. Now, from the outside, not appealing to me. Was in Atlantic city 3 days ago with a friend. I mentioned not worth going in, so much closed stores. Unique in its former appearance.

Phillips used to be amazing. My wife and I used to eat there all the time, half price wine night was the BEST. Then the mall started going down and reviews popped up of people getting sick there from the food. Then we stopped going. Im sure others did the same.

I have been going to AC for 40 years. The Caesar’s Mall, even when it was at its peak only had 50% capacity. The mall was designed to be a high end mall (LV, Gucci, Tiffany’s, etc) like it’s brother mall in Vegas. Did you go when restaurants couldn’t have indoor seating? Philips, Continental and Buddakahn are open. With limited seating. It’s a beautiful mall that the casino owners use as a tax write off.

We went last Tuesday (06/15) at dinnertime (5:30pm-6:15pm). We visited in the 2010-ish era and it was much more than 50%.

Well it’s clean. Having said that there’s no customers to dirty the mall. It looks like a fair bit was spent on the interior at construction I would guess. The fact that it’s near totally dead doesn’t bode well for any sort of recovery. I think this yet another example of a once successful mall that just doesn’t resonate with customers today. I’m sure there’s a bigger, better mall within 15 minutes of this place. Mall customers are a fickle lot. They will flock to a better property, abandoning the one left behind in an instant. It’s a super sad situation that numerous malls face. This property falls into the catergory, dead, dead and deader. It has no meaningful use. It’s just going to sit there until it’s demolished.
@RawRealRetail4 жыл бұрын
Likely the casino will gut it for some use later down the road. The only other mall in the area is the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing, about 20 minutes west. That mall is also on the slide, not quite dying yet, but they are owned by Namdar so I don't think that will improve.

All shopping malls were closed in the United States at the beginning of March. Why were shopping malls go to waste and being like an dead mall?
@RawRealRetail4 жыл бұрын
Not being allowed to have income for a protracted amount of time tends to be the death of one's business usually.
