Ronnie, I would suggest you start off by learning the basic positions for major chords, minor chords, dominant seventh chords and diminished chords. Also, learning the function of each of your knee levers and pedals, that is, what strings they raise and lower, and by how many half- or whole steps.Though I haven't seen it personally, I've heard only good things about the Buddy Emmons "Basic C6 Course". You might consider buying that. Also, Paul Franklin just launched his comprehensive online course this past week, which includes C6, so that's another option that I'm sure will be excellent (though the price tag will be higher than the Emmons course). If I was playing an E9/B6 universal.. would most of this lesson still be relevant, simply playing everything up a fret?

Conor, I really can't say as I'm not familiar with the universal tuning and what changes are present on it. If it's a 12-string Uni there are 2 extra strings (possibly one in the middle of the neck?) that would be different from the string numbers I refer to in this video. I play a 12 uni, how would I transpose the frets since it’s one neck ? I know that with my E’s lowered I’m simultaneously in B6th (c6th) any advice ? Thank you Mr Jim

Sorry, I'm really not very familiar with U12 tunings, never having owned one. But if you can get yourself into B6 mode, you should be able to play the same voicings but raise it one fret higher to be in C6, same as the track. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I play a GFI Universal 8/6 keyless and I have the complete setup of Buddy Emmons E9 and B6. So when I play on the 1st fret In C, then these lesson is as usable and helpful as on a normal C6 neck. For playing E9 I miss the lower D-string, but for a lower 7 chord, I use a knee lever. Hope this helps! Thijs Kappen, The Netherlands

I forgot to tell, that, when I lower mijn E's half a tone for trying to play/ playing jazz, my 2e string (D#) will be lowered to D. So I have a a complete C6 on my 1st fret. Have fun!

Hmmm.... Barry, that doesn't sound like something I would say. Perhaps I was referring to which string the root (or the "1") of the chord was on? Can you tell me the exact time marker in the video where you are hearing this? Thanks; we'll straighten it out.

I made a mistake: when you play an E9/B6 then you have to lower the second string to C#, not to D. You can do that with the same kneelever, that lowers the two higher E 's. Not he lowest E, string 9. GFI, 8/6 Uni, Sierra 8/6 Uni, Excel 9/7 Uni
