Playing 9 holes on E6 with the Rapsodo MLM2PRO!

Just got my mlm2pro set up. I have a very rudimentary sim area. Just a net and a small mat. So far on the Rapsodo app, the trajectory right/left is good, but the height trajectory feels very low and my carry distances are around 20 yards short up to 40 yards short with wood and driver. Using the Callaway rapsodo balls. I’ll keep playing around with it but any tips that help get distances more accurate?

The E6 on IOS looks really good!!! Looked like you played mostly low chip style shots around the green......does the unit do better if you play a higher launch pitch/swmi flop??

Yeah E6 iOS is great! It was a lot of fun with the r10 as well. So the chip shots I hit really weren’t that low if you look at where they hit on the impact screen. Even the lowest one sill got about a foot and a half in the air. I feel like after the disconnection issues this is the next thing Rapsodo really needs to focus on. Just like when the r10 came out… I’m sure chipping will improve given some time. For me it just likes more distance at the moment.. yes you can hit flops or semi flops but its a bit unrealistic unless you’re Phil Mickelson from the early 2000’s 😂😂

Another great video. Sorry I'm commenting asking different questions on different videos, but I'm a high involvement shopper. So if I go with the Rapsodo, I am forced to pay for their membership of $200 US $$/year, but if I want the e6, or Awesome Golf, I have to pay for each of those as separate memberships? Hey Matt all good mate ask away!! As long as you're subscribed 🤣. So with the Rapsodo you are going to get accurate spin axis and therefore accurate shot shape. However you have to use the RPT balls or balls with the dots on them that's because the camera is tracking those dots and calculating it. Yes the Rapsodo is very very basic without the subscription... I mean you can use it in a limited version on the driving range. So pretty much yes you are forced to subscribe and unfortunately this is what pretty much every launch monitor company is doing these days. I would be surprised if a new Garmin comes out with that same model. You actually get 5 free courses and driving ranges (iOS only) with the purchase of the MLM2PRO. These are free and come with the Rapsodo. However you guessed it you need to pay the yearly sub to be able to use E6. You can also purchase additional courses within the e6 app however these are quite expensive and I wouldn't recommend doing so. However!! The 5 free courses are a lot of fun. As for Awesome Golf this is my favourite app on iOS. It's an upfront one off payment that you can purchase through the app store it's currently $350usd. Because you can purchase it through the app store you can use apple gift cards so I recommend buying them if you see them on sale to save a bit of money. Finally GS Pro! You need a PC to run it but trust me it's worth it.... And this is why I don't recommend buying extra e6 courses.... However all of this relies on the $200 yearly sub. Cheers

Good to see no disconnects, I'm jealous. The chipping is almost there, maybe? And, I would say it's an E6 software issue that there is a massive false front on one of the holes that is impossible to see. Contrast that with GSPro and its heat mapping and that would have been avoidable. I had a few disconnects today during my practice session. I was trying to use the E6 range outdoors with a net and had it going for a bit but then got disconnected and struggled to get it back going with E6. I've contacted "Support", let's see what happens! Meanwhile, using the Rapsodo Range, I also got some very funky readings. I was carrying my 4-iron 230+ metres (I normally carry it 190). I then had some drives that carried 120 metres, and total yardage was 300+. Ha ha. Have lodged with the support team as well. I think another area that is still a work-in-progress seems to be alignment. There were some times that the alignment wasn't reflecting where I was pointing the device, which was a bit odd. For example, I would need to point the device clearly facing right of my intended target to line up to my intended target. I would then go back to check it a few shots later and it would correct itself and be pointing to the right. So, something going on there - a sort of "shifting" or correcting that occurs at some stage. I'll need to investigate! -Graeme

Hey Graeme that's really interesting about the alignment! I'm going to check that out next time I'm using it. As for the disconnects.... So I didn't have any disconnects however I was still connected from the last video I filmed. So once I get it connected it seems quite stable however the issue is connecting! That's odd with the Rapsodo range?? Is that the first time it's done that? As for chipping I still think it's a long way off.. I used the R10 today video coming out shortly and the chipping experience was great. The Rapsodo will get there I'm sure. Well I'm hoping 🤣🤣

Thanks Joe, and like the new logo! To Grame’s point good to see no disconnects - that was major, but the missed chips can be bothersome. I haven’t done much chipping in my sim so I’ll have to start testing that.

Thanks Kenny! Yeah so I film this straight after I filmed my last video so it was already connected to E6 but the good news is there was no disconnect! I do think the chipping will improve. It's like the Garmin when it first came out. The chipping wasn't great, however it has improved dramatically over time with updates. I do think the chipping will get there with the MLM2PRO It's just going to take some dedicated updates to get the sensitivity right.

Great video Joe, appreciate the content. I am curious about the elevation. In this video it showed zero. Was that your setting or the course elevation and how do you account for that versus when you might play outdoors at home? I've seen other videos where you go through the calculation process for elevation but didn't see that in this clip. Thanks!

Thanks mate. So yeah in this video I just said it as zero elevation just so then I didn't have to do any extra calculations. I have all my stock carry yardages based on zero elevation and that's because I live right next to the beach and then also it makes it easier to calculate any yardages whenever I Go anywhere with elevation. So the formula I use every 1000 foot of elevation is going to give you an extra 2% carry. So if I play a course that has 6000 ft of elevation, I'm going to add 12% to my carry distance. Cheers

I'm having a hard time deciding between buying awesome golf, or buying an ipad to run free e6. About the same price. I'm more of a data+practice guy than gamer, but e6 looks great. Suggestions?

Hey Paul I would say why not both 🤣🤣 so if you can only do one I would personally say this Awesome Golf is absolutely fantastic software! That is perfect. Absolutely perfect for working on your swing and data analysis. It is laid out the best. I've seen any app or software in terms of data gathering and the way gives you the information. Not only do you get the data in a spreadsheet that you can export, you also get visuals for example in the coaching section that show you the data and make it really easy to interpret. If you're looking for an application or any software to work on your game and get data Awesome Golf best software by far. E6 on the other hand is not going to be great on getting data and also the data like carry distance and things like that in my experience Awesome Golf is superior. The only reason I would suggest getting E6 is for the five free courses and simulator play. I personally wouldn't use E6 to gather data. Me E6 gives a really nice simulator experience that just happens to be bundled with the purchase of this device and if you have iOS then it's great. But if I had to buy a device to run E6, I would probably look at getting a cheaper second hand iPhone or tablet to do so. In saying that if you get one that's too old then the experience won't be as good because it will drop frames and won't run really smooth. So in short for you personally I would advise Getting awesome golf to me it sounds like you are going to get the most out of that. Hope that helps mate Cheers

Hey mate yes I will say it was already connected up from the last video so I didn’t have to reconnect but it didn’t disconnect so that’s something! No it wont the chipping is like that with the RPT balls unfortunately. I have done a LOT of testing on this. Cheers

Great video! How do you feel E6 is with your yardages do you think they’re true? Also I know it has spin axis now but do you feel it’s accurate or showing a little straighter than real life? You also thought a couple balls were flushed and they started to cut was that a misread you think by the MLM2PRO?

Hey TJ so I need to do a bit of a dive and comparison now that we have spin axis.. I’m not sure about the yardages need more testing. For spin axis yes I think its true I think the Rapsodo is spot on for this. But the actual in game algorithm using that data I’m not sure.. again I will need more testing to really get a feel. And finally yes I think the unit was slightly aligned right and causing a bit of the error due to that. I now have a new technique of going in to the Rapsodo range and aligning the unit before clicking on 3rd party apps.

Just an observation re the chipping. The non reads seem to happen when the club does not quite get to being at least parallel with the ground on the backswing.

Hey mate good pick up I'll try and keep an eye on that! To me the chipping is just unacceptable. I really expect better especially looking at what the R10 can do with just a radar. This unit has the cameras as well so it really should be better at chipping with that extra hardware.

I have everything going a bit right on my rapsodo since the app update. Also sometimes when I check the alignment it randomly shows it pointing way to the left for a sec then moves to centre again

Thanks mate this is the old or current version. Im not sure if the iOS version is getting an update I'll have to look into it. I know the PC version is getting an update I'm not sure of the timeline but keen to see it when it is updated.

Hey mate this is the iPad. So my screen is actually closer to a 4:3 aspect ratio because when I built it initially I wanted the iPad to be able to go full screen. For my PC I can adjust the settings on the NVIDIA graphics card to do a custom resolution and have it full screen. 👍

Yes they fixed the spin axis a while ago! There are still quite a few people experiencing connection issues with e6 though. I haven't played it in a while so can't confirm if my new wifi extender has fixed the connection issues with e6.

Hey AJ I'll have to do some testing on the actual Rapsodo app itself but e6 it seems to be fixed and all correct. The launch angles using e6 all match what I see with my foresight GC2 and also my Garmin R10. They seem to have fixed this in one of the updates.

Today we tried to play stone canyon on rapsodo with E6 and it was a very frustrating experience. First it took us like 30 minutes to get everything going. Everytime we would start the rapsodo app it would not have the 3rd party apps listed. I think it needs internet for those to work so we connected through my friends home Wifi and got it working. But it took 30 minutes before we could play. Once playing we only got through about 14 of 18 holes. On many holes we had to simply skip the next hole as we could not get the Rapsodo to read a shot. These were usually in the 100 yards or less range. Very frustrating. It also did not like low shots that my friend was hitting. It often read them as shanks or severe pulls even through we know from experience his shot would be fairly straight. I am personally really frustrated and disappointed in this product and how well it works with 3rd party apps. I was hoping to make a home sim but so far this Rapsodo is not inspiring me to make the effort.

Hey Mark that is really not good enough.. I would definitely contact support and let them know of this experience. If you go on the Rapsodo app and then the profile section you can contact support there and let them know. I can confirm using GS Pro is a great experience and that's because you are essentially using the Rapsodo app and range.

No disconnects!! So I filmed this right after I did the spin axis video so the unit was already connected to e6 but the connection was stable! Which I was really happy about. It looks like once you get this thing connected it is reasonably stable the trick is actually getting it connected.

I gotta say accurate data like this apart from missed shots on some of the chips for this price is a steal. You gotta remember this type of accuracy used to cost 20k then GC3 came out and it became 6k with the full packet. And now almost same accuracy and you pay 600 once and yearly 200 subscription. It is a very good bargain. I'd never thought I would see those prices in my life time. So guys please stop discrediting a device which costs ten times less just because it misses some shots 🤣🤣. It looks like E6+MLM2Pro is the cheapest GCQuad alternative you can get...

Yeah I definitely agree and yes there are the subscription fees and having to use the RPT balls or have dots on your ball to get that data. Hopefully in the future versions we don't have to use RPT balls who knows. For now as you say the data accuracy is incredible.

Yeah the native app leaves a lot to be desired!! I'm sure they will keep doing updates to get it better and better but like a lot of launch monitors including foresight, Uneekor, Garmin and flightscope then native software isn't great tbh and usually most people use a 3rd party software.

the e6 demo was my first entry into the simulator world. I know everyone is huge on gspro, but I definitely have a soft spot for everything about e6. just wish it wasnt so expensive!

Hey mate yeah so that's the thing it's just the price!! I do love that they have iOS.. if GS Pro came out with an iOS version though that would be huge. I must admit when that e6 music hits 🎵🎵🎵🎵 I do get that good feeling 🤣. Brings me back to when I only just got my R10 and I didn't even dream of getting a gaming laptop and GS Pro. I'll be keen to see the PC update of e6 that will be interesting.

Hey Mark yes I am definitely going to play with the e6 software a bit more since the GS Pro connector and the unreliability of the e6 connection I haven't used it. I know there are updates coming soon I just don't know when exactly.
