How far do you throw on forehand?? Oh wait...you don't seem to have a forehand? This is a conversation I have with lots of players looking to improve their game, and I find most haven't spent alot of time trying to develop this skill. Today I brought in the Foundation team to play a forehand only challenge (putting included) to see if we could learn anything while we are out here on the course. Necessity is the mother of invention, and today we HAVE to know how to throw a forehand because it's all we got!!
Have you heard of the Birdie Fam? It's a community of disc golfers who are striving to excel and improve together. “When you suck you throw really over-stable discs so you don’t have to get better.” Such words never resonated so gracefully.

I am a bad person.. I just laugh my teeth out when throws goes horribly wrong.. It is so entertaining. Playing with friends it is the most fun part of the course (need to say i am throwing those bad shots myself, failing horribly) but we have so much fun. Those slips and falls on the tee is so entertaining but i have to ask, am i alone thinking this is hilarious fun? Love this game, and i want to thank you for all your fails, it made my day. I must say though, you did really good, i cant throw a forehand longer than possibly 5 feet.. I am a one one the scale of ten.. Thank you for sharing, you guys are awesome!

Best thing I ever did to improve my forehand was to just not use it for longer throws. Instead opting to first only use it for shorter approaches with a glitch untill I could throw it smoothly enough to go straight and then gently fade and full on hyzers that never flipped out of it. With that foundation gradually increasing the distances I'd throw, sometimes discing up to a Proxy. When I became confident with the Proxy, again trying a bit further up to a Hex. And now I'm at a Crave, and I throw that thing up to 80m now, something I'd only be able to do with a distance driver before. Best thing too is I've not had any pain in my arm at all since doing this, but often before if I tried to bite off more than I could chew I'd often get pain in my bicep and then have to take a break for a few weeks from throwing forehands, and usually also resulting in a loss of distance in my backhand.

this. I’ve long said that if you don’t have a spinny and controlled upshot forehand then you’ll never have a distance forehand. I’ve had to learn to stop idolizing Anthony Barela or Jeremy Koling’s forehand, but rather to model myself after a Gregg Barsby, Simon Lizotte, or new Eagle McMahon forehand where it’s just really simple, super spinny, and only goes about 350’.

I just switched from forehanding a Rive 13/5/0/3 to a Vanish 11/5/-3/2 to get better at hyzer flip FHs. I’ve already gotten better at the finesse and as I add more power on hyzer it’s starting to go further than my Rive.

Play "Sorry!" for every 3 holes played you get 1 Sorry! After a player throws and the shot comes to rest you have 5 seconds to say "Sorry!" which negates their shot and makes them throw again with a different disc. One fun caveat is when playing with 3 or more people, if two people say, "Sorry!" they both lose one of theirs, so there's decision-making on when you want to use it.

Robbie, I agree...the Zinger aka Ring Zone is the best....but most likely the Zanger aka Bang Zone will win.

To improve my forehand, i played every round all forehand vs all backhand until my FH score = my BH score. Closing the gap, turning it into a competition with myself became fun. If you are serious about having both capabilities, give it a try, keep score, close the gap!
