I know right, I think things like polyrhythms and complex rhythms are hard wired in the brain. I imagine practicing does help but like painting or singing some art u are born with. U can improve from any level but I think a person's wall or the highest level one can achieve u r born with and it just takes an enormous amount of practice to get to the peaks of the talent u were born with. Much like when michelangelo did David. He said he knew what was inside the marble and it was his job the get it out. It's was always there just took the right key to unlock it. I believe true genius u are born with, then a shit load of hard work and dedication is the Recipe for true greatness. Just one guys opinion

@@c.l.368 lol no. I’m a professionally trained college educated musician i have several professional drummer friends I’ve played the drums and i know all these polyrhythms myself. This isn’t edited you should watch again. He absolutely is playing this as you hear it
@LSFord2 жыл бұрын
@@c.l.368 yeah I’m well aware of everything you’re saying. And I’ve also been in the same room as several drummers that can make it look easy to avoid that. High level musicians capable of extreme precision do exist. It’s not just proper sticking you can literally SEE the polyrhythms. You can see his hands and they are also perfectly in time and in sync with the audio. There’s no blur or any signs of visual editing whatsoever. The credentials matter here dude. Because my experience makes me more capable of noticing the exact things you’re talking about. You’re right that it’s possible to edit the audio but it’s so easy to see that when you know what it looks like to really do it. This is what that looks like. I’m sure there was some editing in terms of eq and balance bc you have to make the microphones replicate the real world and sometimes that even improves the sound but it doesn’t change the rhythm or accuracy. I’ve listened to some of his live recordings and it’s not the same playing on a stage, but he sounds pretty close to some of those legends you mentioned. They also didn’t sound perfect on stage. But their recorded music sounds basically perfect because In a controlled environment they could play that well. So what you’re saying doesn’t actually prove it’s edited at all you’re actually speaking to my point. those legends and others, even before editing software that allowed for what you’re talking about, were able to make nearly perfect recordings but their live performances were not as good. Just like him.

@whoismso2 жыл бұрын
On the other hand it all breaks down to one thing, is music a competition for a person or not? We don’t have to perceive eachother as a threat, competition or whatever, just as being different😊. If we look at music as competition almost everything was already achieved but if we look at it as a platform of expression and conveying one’s message it will be a beautiful world where no one loses but everyone wins as we get thousands of musicians focusing on their individual touch in what they create😊
@VopiscusGuitar2 жыл бұрын
@@whoismso the competition aspect forces the art of each instrument to progress. Nobody's upset; everybody's inspired. Holy badger crap, you are a f*****g monster, man! Heartbreaking story here: I started taking lessons at 6, was playing club gigs with my dad at 13. Became fascinated by playing in odd time signatures. Billy Cobham/Mahavishnu Orchestra were my inspiration. Well into my 50s I had multiple stress induced TIA strokes that ultimately robbed me of everything that took a lifetime of learning overnight! Can't even play simple groove anymore. Had to sell all my drums to move forward. You are an inspiration to many youngsters to be different & be able to do things that practically no other drummers can. Guys you'll get noticed, trust me. 😃

I try this on accordion guitar and drums. I have found out that it's best to focus on what you're doing first and let the other arm flail, don't try to focus on anything, just get the arm moving going wherever it wants but keep the focus on the first thing. It starts building synapses towards separation of limbs. Every action in your body is controlled by synapses, synapses instigate the movement.....let a few synapses build while you're flailing and you'll soon see results, plus it might keep you from getting overly anxious.
