Once white kills the Queen, no matter if it is with the Rook or Knight, when the Black Knight comes and puts the King in check, that piece now blocks the King and the King has no where to go. Since the King can't move to not avoid capture, it is a smothered check by the Black knight since nothing can take the black Knight now.

If bishop takes on d4 you stop threatening the knight and there would be no reason to take it like with the move shown if you’re asking about something else then idk
