I honestly thought it was already in the game so I was a bit surprised to found out that's not the case. I'm just gonna expect it to drop in a DLC at some point. It was my most favorite faction back in AoE2. Mainly because off the awesome warriors and the aesthetics of the entire faction. It was so unique compared to every other faction.

I also love Aztec culture and aesthetics but its not likely, aoe4 is very gunpowder heavy in the late game I’m not sure how they would make the Aztecs keep up, they wouldn’t even have access to arty of any kind as far as I know and probably no cav either, maybe they could add Spain with like Aztec/Inca mercs?

Man, I picked up this game fairly recently, and while it's been fun, the learning curve feels more like a learning cliff sometimes. Easy AI fear me, intermediate AI want me (dead). I'm also going strong with a 0% winrate against players lmfao.

Yeah I tend to get really baked and then play aoe4, I become incapable of playing on harder than the intermediate AI because it’s too fast paced for my boofed up brain

You could have many new civs and variants all in all. I'm kind of surprised they went with something like Joan of Arc for the french variant instead of the Kingdom of Jerusalem (which was mostly french in origin) or something like that. For new civs some that stick out to me as obviously good ones that didn't really get mentioned in the stream: Another Indian civ, but taking from Hindu states rather than the Islamic Delhi Sultanate, Rajputs would be really cool as they are time period appropriate and really unique. One of the Italian merchant republics, Venice or Genoa would be the more obvious ones, as they were really powerful in the mediterranean in the high and late middle ages. Persian/Iranian civ. I guess the "problem" here is that for much of the time period the people ruling there are the Seljuks and their successors, who were Turks, but so were their successors, and basically all Persian dynasties into the modern age. The more interesting ones would be to pick from the later end of the period and do Safavids as a kind of cavalry and gunpowder empire, with a heavy focus on religious play. Speaking of the Seljuks, they could be a good variant civ of the Ottomans, focusing more on cavalry and archers (including horse archers) and raiding instead of sieges and such. They'd be something kind of like the mongols in some ways (as Turks and Mongols actually share a lot in terms of origin and the steppe nomad lifestyle and military traditions). Ethiopia/Abyssinia could be a good additional African civ. Maybe with a focus on relics (they did after all possess the ark of the covenant, at least supposedly), Ethiopians (and Nubians further north in modern day Egypt and Sudan) were also well known for their skills as archers, using long and heavy bows, which could be a decent military focus. Back in Europe, the most obvious missing piece is of course Spain and possibly Portugal (if you could differentiate them in a good way), you could even separate Spain into two variants with Castille as the main one centered around some kind of portrayal of crusading or holy war and conquests/colonies to reflect the reconquista, Spanish empire and conquistadors, the secondary one could Aragon (and Barcelona) with more of a mediterranean, commercial focus, maybe fielding units drawn from around their mediterranean empire like Albanian or Sicilian units. A more spicy variant of a Spanish civ, reminiscent of Joan of Arc could be to make a hero civ focused around El Cid. I have a feeling that any Iberian stuff would likely come alongside New World civilizations like the Aztecs and Incans. A North Afrian/Andalusian civilization back in the mediterranean would also be an appropriate companion. Focusing on something like the Almohad caliphate that was based in North Africa but had subjugated most of the Anadalusian muslims as well would probably give you the more interesting source material to create something unique from. You could then do Granada or (going earlier) Cordoba/al-Andalus as a variant of that at some point. In Asia Korea is an obvious choice for another East Asian civ that offers a bunch of fun unique units and historical flavors. Including rocket launchers and the famous turtle ships.

I mean it breaks whole game balance and setting. Its an RTS with depleting resources, yet some civs get infinite. And of course its balanced for FFA which are usually often before reaching imperial age.
