I'm a Nf3 kind of guy, myself. In the Jobava f3 is definitely a move but the principled Nf3 is always a move.
@Blunder_Man2 ай бұрын
@@walterbrownstone8017 yeah, that's the regular London. I think many people are more out of theory against the Jobava instead of the regular London
@walterbrownstone80172 ай бұрын
@@Blunder_Man I never looked at it that way but I guess it is just the London. What ends up happening is you play f3 and g4 to chase away the bishop but then Bd3 to get rid of it anyways. That's why I'm just tempted to play Nf3 instead.
@Blunder_Man2 ай бұрын
Against the bishop you always want to pawn storm, it just gives you a very straightforward attack that always does well I think
@walterbrownstone80172 ай бұрын
@@Blunder_Man I don't know why I feel reluctant to play f3, It's guaranteed to work. It's one of those ridiculous Jobava things that just works even at the 2500 blitz level. You just waltz into a good middlegame in 2k+ games and everyone let's it happen. . But Nf3 just looks so cool, and that's sometimes the fun part.

I'm 2000+ rated all formats. 1st game- You should open the center quickly if your opponent hasn't castled and you're pawn storming. Also your dark square bishop was blocking your f pawn during your pawn storm you needed to drop it back to push the f pawn. I would also advise not playing the London as people will know the theory on how to beat it since it's the same moves. 2nd game- if your opponent goes g3 with no light square bishop fianchettod then play h5, h6, use it as a hook for your pawn and open up the file for your rook. It might help to think about pieces attacking the king and queen via xrays once pawns are gone. I think you need to learn how to punish the mistakes your opponents are making and learn better opening theory. Take a few hours, play 100 bullet games and review your first 20 moves with the engine after each game, don't worry about winning them, your thinking/plans should be correct first and 100 bullet games will quickly expose you to new ideas.

Thanks Jon, helpful advice, I'll try to think more about hooks and correct pawn pushes in the middle

That guy from Zimbabwe was so fun...😆fantastic chess by him👍i mean i didn't know that in Zimbabwe people can play in chess. That's interesting. Game 3 was blunder fest by both of you. But you were a little bit more lucky. So, progress is still progress. No matter how slow. Good luck in chess tournament, Owen.
