I played with my older sister and she had a similar reaction to death. She was a monk, we broke into this guarded place and she said she wanted to stab this guy 10 times. Rolled insanely good, and she killed him by the 3rd stab to the head, and immediately regretted trying to stab him because she forgot people die when they are killed.

The funny thing is that my mother played D&D years before I was born and then never again. I'm actually DMing a campaign for my brother, sister in law and their kids. ^^ It was a bit complex in the begining for the family dynamic to shift during the game, but now it's a lot of fun. That's not D&D, it's a homebrew system, with simple rules easy to remember (that's their first time doing RPG, and I didn't want them to feel overwhelmed by rules and big character sheets). Everyone is cool and invested in the game, and I really could not wish for more. :) One time, my sister in law tried to bribe me with beer, tho. :'D

Adventure With Muk is a good one to get them involved into DND proper. It’s free on the DM’s guild, has pre made characters, and doubles as a coloring book. It’s very loose, and it’s kinda expected the DM will “yes and”. It comes with questions that will get them to think about creative solutions, whilst also providing a possible answer for the actual encounters.
@bobiboulon
@bobiboulon Жыл бұрын
@@Zero-0N3 Honnestly, I didn't play D&D in ages. And last time I played regulary a RPG was INS&MV. :D I like inventing systems, races and universes. And it was a good exercise for me, because I must confess that have a tendency to create systems that have rules over rules over rules in order to cover every situation possible with realism and fun and.... well, let's say there's room for improvement. ^^' Doing this campaign with in mind "keep the rules simple" was a great exercise for me. I even simplifed the character sheet after the first session, realising there were some confusing and unecessary things, and I keep polishing some stuff (in an invisible way for my players, of course). So, yeah, for me, "telling stories" is nice, but inventing a RPG from scratch is, too. ;)

I once played D&D with my mum. She had no idea how any of it worked but never rolled less than 18 for ANYTHING. It was an evil campaign and she did some scary SCARY stuff despite only being a lv 3 bard. She is now feared by the whole group I play with.
