General Tips for you, Mr.Moo, if you would like: - When selecting heroes at the start of a run, keep an eye on their quirks. Some are really good, some have little affect, and some are very very bad. They can do things like add tokens, remove health, buff resistances, and give special interactions to certain in-game events.* - You can probably already tell, but this game is VERY token based in combat (The icons under health bars). Things like dodge, block and riposte all depend on tokens a hero/monster has. There is a tab in the pause menu that will explain every token if you open it for convenience. They can heavily sway a battle is used correctly or are accounted for. Just take heed to what tokens are available for you to use or what you're up against. - The yellow/blue flame over heroes you saw before entering the creature den indicates how their relationship will be affected. There is a tab on character sheets that show how they are with everyone. To keep it simple: try to keep the 1/20 number above 9 as much as you can. - Next time you have candles, or using the 22 from this run, buy more heroes asap. The starting 4 are good, but more options the merrier. *(Plus, this helps out for when someone has a bad quirk and you need more options)* - Creature dens are difficult by nature, I don't blame you for losing 2 heroes at it. They offer a rather large reward, but I would avoid them for now. - The skill you unlocked at the hero shrine has to manually be equipped. This can be done at the hero selection screen or while on the road. - It seems the Tangle (the soldiers in the area you were in) enemies do have a rather high crit chance... that being said 4 in a row is pure bad luck lmao. I do think this game is "easier" then the first while still being a good challenge. It's easier to digest with a lot less numbers being thrown at you with no context lol. Mythymoo with anti blight heals (the heal part only works depending on how low your HP is pls read descrptions) and buff that reduces blight chance Mythymoo: the daam 50/50 I mean your luck is not rely good but you should learn to never take for granted anything that is not 100% chance and play around that instead of atacking and risking 50/50 with the player doctor, heal yourself and atack with the least damagin unit you have or any área dmg like the second trowing knifes in the graverober

Hope you like the game and play more! DD2 can kick your ass at the beginning like the first one, happened to me too. Took manh tries to finally get my first chapter clear. Some general tips to help: -Normal healing is very limited in this game. The most important use for it is to pick people up from Deaths Door. Most healing skills cant't be used for topping people off. But that's ok, people automatically heal when driving the wagon. Healing items also exist in this game, but you have to unlock them fromt the combat items "slot machine" in the Altar of Hope. -Preventing damage tends to be more effective than reacting to it. So killing things fast good. Mitigating damage with debuffs like blinds or weakens helps. So does clearing heavy DoTs on time. One of the best basic strats using a tank who taunts the enemy and can generate block to reduce damage. Man at arms in the starter group has skills like this as early unlocks. This also focuses DoTs on one character for your limited healing abilities. Several characters also have skills that can generate dodge for self-sustain, like Grave Robber and Highwayman. -At the beginning, focus more on Hero Shrines to unlock skills, and places on the map that reward candles to unlock new characters, items & upgrades at Altar of Hope. This meta progression makes a world of difference. Just altar upgrades can push a characters Deathblow resist from 60ish to 80ish, or close to 90 on some select chars. -On early runs Lairs and Creature dens can be spooky like you found out. They tend to require counterplay, which is not always possible when you don't have all the skills unlocked yet. Like a puzzle missing a piece. -Once health survivability is no longer a big problem, stress will take it's place. Ideally you'll want characters stress below 4. When like this, they won't start to annoy each other and trigger bad relationships. Bad relations can make runs lot more difficult. But good ones can be a big help. So you'll want a char who can stress heal. Man at arms and ya boi Jester are the two best ones at this. Hellion and Vestal are also viable. Scoring crits can also heal stress, so characters like Grave Robber and Highwayman can pitch in passively. But not reliably.

Until you unlock more skills, heroes and items you should avoid "Lairs" and "creature dens". Also in this game there is no dodge, everyone hits 100% of the time, it's all about the tokens (possitive and negative ones) and manage them. Attacks that hit multiple targets are specially good to get rid of multiple possitive tokens in the enemy ranks. As for heroes unlock them and improve them however you feel like. However I will advice against unlocking the Bounty hunter too soon, since he is not a starting hero but instead has a X% chance to appear in an inn where you can hire him for a single region. (He is OP though). And the most important thing in the inn is to improve relationships, there are items that you can buy in the inn for that, try to keep the relationships over 9 or bad things will happen (and good things will happen if they have high relationship scores).

Compared to this one, the first game was easy now that I look back. They added so many new mechanics and the relationships between the party members will make you...do stuff. I actually let Barristan get killed in my first run because he was the only one causing drama in the group.

Honestly you only having 3 hours in DD1 might make it easier for you to play DD2 since the games are so extremely difficult, to point of many people questioning (rightfully so) if the game should be called DD2, as it feels more like a spinoff rather then continuation Game is good, it's fun, the story is neat and the visuals are stunning, but the gameplay is completely different, so I definitely see the argument there Still, it's fun game for what it is
