@@horizonbumpy2828 Honestly, when playing the first time, the sheer amount of info on the UI can be overwhelming. I remember also my first run failing because i had no party members with 1st position moves and ended up shifting them unnecessarily since I didn't fully understand the speed system as well. Unfortunately, the tutorial doesn't really show how team positioning works so I don't think most people will have this 'basic game knowledge' you speak of.

@@TubbyWonka Tbh, while you do have a point that you are less likely to lose characters after a certain point, there's still the ever-present danger of just some shitty RNG. I'm not a good player by any means, but I've had my deathless runs go on for super long and then I step 1 foot in like the cove and suddenly get a trap and 3 crits up the ass and boom, character dead. Which isn't a terrible thing, because the game is based on loss being part of it, but it sure sucks.

Here’s a tip: when you check on the character, the yellow circles on the right side indicate their preferred positions with their current moves, and the red circles indicate their possible target spots with their current moves
@bushi6489
@bushi6489 Жыл бұрын
Also, quick reminder to buy skills and upgrade them, a lot of characters have many skills with different range (targets) and you can choose which ones to use, so you can set up teams with every character in the game as long as you equip them with the right skills to synchronize with the rest of the team. Another tip, the plague doctor is a great starter, one of his skills move the enemy target allowing you to eliminate all corpse's in a single turn and correct your positioning in case you have been pushed.

Really hope you make this a regular series. A few general rules I follow; 1. Invest in the armory and training guild early. They’re tied most directly to hero survivability. 2. Always bring extra supplies. My rule of thumb is 1.5 stacks of food and torches per mission length. 3. No shame in running away; your team will be bummed, but they’ll live.

Having played DD up to the first level of the Darkest Dungeon, i have three lessons to impart upon you. 1) ALWAYS bring four more torches/food. if you think "oh, i'll probably need 12 food" then grab 16. you'll run out regardless, but at least it'll take longer. 2) Torchlight is PARAMOUNT if you want certain characters to survive. I've lost a lot of high-level heroes just because i was ambushed and my formation got fucked, so always be aware of that. 3) DO NOT underestimate movement/psh-pull skills. They've both won me some runs that i thought completely unsalvageable and lost me runs that i was steamrolling with no issue before, especially when stress/damage backline foes are involved. Other than that, have fun and try not to punch your screen when your favourite guy goes insane and dies by jumping into the mouth of a giant pig! Good luck, you'll need it.

Pointers: 1. use w to interact when you overlap with something on the map. helps you disarm traps, go into secret room, etc. 2. You can use items on things you interact with, thats what the open box is for. Different items have different effects. 3. Clicking the check on rubble is not the same as using a shovel. In fact, it is the opposite. Its saying okay w/o using a shovel. 4. The dots on the abilities are where they have to be to use the skill (white dots) and where it hits (red dots) 5. You can use the arrows that appear in the same spot as the "move ability" outside of combat to return to your default position.

Couple of short tips in case you wanna try more of the game: Learn to prioritize stress attack units. Stress is the hardest thing to handle in the start of the game. Bring a lot of torches in the start, you'll gain less stress and won't be surprised often. The units when you check the moves have some yellow dots in the left corner, this shows their preferred positions. Bring a good amount of food both for camps and for healing. Lastly when you stun someone they'll get a 50% anti stun buff that lasts for one round. You can check their percentage chance of resisting stun under their HP and stat-sheet. And your chance to stun is noted when you hover over the stun moves. Also stun in OP as heck.

Hey Myth, just wanna say that I am happy that you are giving this game a shot and thank you for the laughs. In terms of Co-op in this game, I would recommend Parsec or whichever software that let's your other friends interact with your computer. My friends and I have a blast assigning characters and switching control over the mouse wondering what each other are going to do. Some battles can get very stressful as you already experienced. Sorry if you thought of this already and would rather actually have in-game co-op than to set anything up. I can understand that. If a dot is large then that position is the ideal to that charater, it it small but exist that it can be useful there, if it empty then in that place that person is completley useless.... you can just right click the item to use it, also, you need to use more than one torch to keep your light level high, Id recommend not going below 75%. Another good tip is learning how to stall. The game is tough and you need to take whatever opportunity to heal your health and stress that you can, so if you have one guy left, and he has a bleed/blight that will kill him, don't hit him, maybe use a buff or hit a corpse even if you don't need to so you can hopefully use a healer to heal. Each curio reacts to different items, like a key will open one of those gold chests or cabinets. You missed the secret room with the star, you have to enter it like a room, then use a key on the chest inside to get 3 really expensive gems. Hopefully these tips help you out a bit.

Hey Myth, I think you're a pretty cool dude. I've watched a lot of your Pokemon and souls games videos. Love the energy. Darkest dungeon is the bane of my existence so I wish you the best of luck.

Darkest dungeon has some insane mod support. If you liked the game i highly recomend you check some class, trinkets and boss mods to give the game more replayability.

Wow imagine this video dropping shortly after my crippling addiction to Across the Obelisk and on *the day* I decided to reinstall and check up on darkest dungeon 2 early access.
