“If I’m going to do it with my value hands I have to also do it with my bluffs” when you say this do you think this recreational player is thinking this also? What does balancing your betting range accomplish in this specific spot? I don’t mean to sound like I’m a hater and by no means am I saying you’re bad at poker and Im so good cause that’s not true, but I’m willing to bet that you would make a lot more money if instead you just said “what is my opponents range and how can I exploit that”. Once again not a hater, I really do enjoy your videos and I’m a big fan btw ❤. Also I would love to see a video where you try your best to play completely exploitative for one session and then completely GTO another and then you compare them. Think that would be a cool video
@Angelito3c2 жыл бұрын
Because of one word: repetition. All good poker players are very good observers and after thousands of hands, very good players will retain more table information (in this case, betting patterns) then most. It’s not about the specific player he is against it’s about all the players at the table plus all possible players he will face in the future. Limiting his play to what u suggest makes him a much easier player to play against. And also don’t forget he puts out all of his hands to the internet! If I knew where he was playing and he did what u suggest, I would gladly sit down to play against him.
@michaelholland77382 жыл бұрын
@@Angelito3c you stole my thunder. Yes, he may be heads up but believe me when I say that every player at that table was paying close attention. That's what good players do.
@anthonydiliddo60652 жыл бұрын
@@Angelito3c I would think it would be more profitable to play very exploitative against players who wouldn’t catch your exploits because they simply aren’t good enough but the good players a balanced strategy makes sense so I would argue that it’s better to switch between balanced and exploitative depending on the player he’s up against

@@michaelholland7738 If you were at the same table with him and you saw Lex was only value betting against a fish how would that change your strategy against Lex. I think it wouldn’t, so the fact that the rest of the table is watching this hand makes absolutely no difference

@@anthonydiliddo6065 assuming they went to showdown and I saw. I think you need to look at it from the other way around. What if he was caught bluffing and I saw THAT. He would then become a much more difficult opponent to play against because he is showing "balance"

Concerning A9o hand, most people don't admit mistakes and/or weaknesses. When you say, 'hey I messed up there and I'm working on improving that play,' that alone puts you way ahead of the field. You're playing a winning strategy. Just stay focused.

Concerning the 64s hand, Lex, that's the kind of guys you want at the table. We all know we have to feed the fish at times or they won't come back if they never win- it just sucks when it actually happens.

A9 Hand. How do you work on that? You either fold to a re-raise there which begs the quesiton of why C-bet. You get bled there by by AQ, AJ, A10, A8, A3 all of which might have called. Not sure what would be re-raising you there on the flop. GTO says play A-9 off on the button but you get taken to the cleaners with it a lot.

You kinda held onto that A 9 like a lifeboat in the ocean… sometimes you guys get too wrapped up in how YOU think and your lines to recognize an easy read because it was unorthodox. I’m a super aggressive player, and I would have check raised you for that combo draw sometime too for the exact same reason… to bloat the pot and get more value on later streets to make it worth going for the draws. I would argue that it is profitable.

A big misconception poker players make is that,their actions will dictate what the villain is going to do. Your winning and loosing , depends a lot of the time,on what decisions your opponent makes and that is more dependent upon his cards then your play. What works against this guy once,will never work against this other guy. We go home after loosing sometimes,wondering,why didn’t I just fold instead of jamming in that spot. It worked last week but didn’t tonight! I think limping raising your opponents preflop and check raising the flop,when possible,will narrow your opponents range down faster and we can avoid those tougher situations on the river,trying to figure it out. Just my opinion. I’m not a pro,by no means,but this tactic has really helped me tremendously make smarter river decisions to maximize my winning and minimize my losses.

It is uncanny how quasi-famous vloggers continue to attempt to degrade other players by calling them 'recreational' players when getting outplayed. The whole concept of pigeonholing your opponents is to assess the risk and quantify their acumen. To help yourself avoid big traps and to assist in narrowing down their likely holdings. Instead, it ends up being an alibi to satisfy the ego in order to justify calling because you don't respect other players game. That check raise should have been a money saver--either I'm dominated, or he has a large draw. Opening with A-rag, then having the flop land completely in your opponents range should set off warming bells. Instead, it increased the anger of being played back. Oh well.
