not sure if you’ll see this but i was fighting proto angelo on mission 7 on DMD, and in the beginning i used rag time break away and knocked him in the air. when he fell v just one shotted him and i’m kind of new to dmc5 so i have no clue how that happened! just wondering what made it happen and i can’t find anything online explaining it. can you help?

Interestingly enough I'm pretty sure in this game they used the same shotgun sound from the original RE1 or atleast similar to it.

Wait so that's why on the back cover there's a picture of Dante with a shorter jacket! It must've been a screenshot from an earlier build. One of my biggest childhood mysteries finally solved!

Yes! It was bugging me for the longest time seeing all the screenshots with the short coat and weird UI but it all seemed to images taken from this build

I've hacked this demo and been to rooms you can't access. Like the throne room where you fight Nelo Angelo's true form. It has no boss and the lighting is not dark but orange like in the castle windows. Enemies do spawn, Sins. It's also been seen in the early promotional videos. I've also been in the sewers, it has kinda an orange hue to it instead of blue. But it has no water in the second area where you fight the Sin mini boss, and no key or orb statue either. Been in the room with the pillar where you get to the castellan bedroom. Hasn't changed much, but has an additional door. Also in the castellan bedroom the layout is a bit different. Game overal seems to feel much harder. I've been discovering more of this beta it actually has a lot we've never seen. Some rooms are untextured and glitch out. In my opinion the feel of the beta feels much better, also like the health bar a lot. Looks cool. Hopefully I can find the fire imbued weapon somewhere. Apparently Alastor could be imbued with fire. But haven't found anything yet. I'm a huge fan of the first game, total masterpiece. Should've been a stand alone title in my opinion. Got many relics of the first game.

Also one thing to add, in early trailers you see Griffon burst through the chapel ceiling in the cathedral. He doesn't, it's just Phantom. There aren't any references to Griffon in the files that he should spawn there. I think it was purely done for the trailer. And the place is too small for him.

Awesome upload devilnevercry. I hope some of these ideas that were in this demo is like revisited in a future dmc with the Alastor or a potential remake of dmc1. That’s interesting that the alastor in this demo used to have two versions of itself. Really interesting.

DYKG just uploaded a Wii video, apparently the Wii was supposed to get a DMC game. Don’t know if it was an original game or a port of DMC1. That would have been sick if I’m honest with the motion controls.

It's interesting how both this and the demo that came with Code Veronic X both have different basic combos than the final game. Like the input's the same, but the animation is totally different here and closer but not quite there in the other one.

I love looking at this sort of early footage especially for the details and design choices. With something like DMC 1 and it's RE origins are super interesting. Some of the early trailers show some differences too like the throne room during the day and the concept art is really fascinating to look through too.

This is awesome stuff. I've seen concept art of Dante wearing a jacket instead of a coat but I've never seen the in game model. I find it weird that the style rating wasn't implemented in this build but something so seemingly random as the shotgun location was finalised pretty early on.

The style rating system is invisible here. Enemies dropped more orbs when combo'd even there is no UI

Holy shit I never heard of this I'm surprised you got a hold of it. I liked the different variation of Alastor but i guess they wanted a different weapon to use fire. To be honest though they could have went with lightning and fire versions of each weapon imagine ifrit with lightning! The beginning going to get the rusty key and first encounter with the marionettes was a lot darker I liked that a lot. Seeing the different appearances of the areas were exciting since you're used to seeing what you usually do.

It's actually not hard to obtain, it's included with the Japanese version of Code Veronica. Only the Japanese version has this early build. US and Europe version has the final versions hence a demo.

Oh wow, this must be pretty early, since Dante doesn't even have his coat. The colors for the room where the first combat happens is a lot more blue too. And with the fact you can use the gun and sword at the same time, but there is no style meter, i'd say this is like year-into/year and a half development build?

Im not sure about the time frame. It has to have been well into development though so a year and a half to maybe 2 years sounds about right

Ive got a physical copy of it that i imported from Japan. But you can emulate it easily as the file is online

It's included with the Japanese version of Code Veronica. Only Japanese versions has this early beta build included.
