why do people skip the tutorial? On a game know to be punishing! Yes, you may have played a previous soul's game, but they are all uniquely finicky. So many people who skip it just don't know all the functions of the gear, and so they never utilize it. The number of people I've seen die because they refuse to craft any utility item or throwable it on par with gravity! And I swear half the new dex users don't even know what twohanding does. In DS1 it took me forever to find the sewer system because I just never looked right when I went up the shortcut, it took me a month to get frustrated and start reading everything for a hint found the key to the door and it led me right there. This game you cannot get lost in major sights of grace literally lead you were to go to find a great Rune. And your ultimate goal the giant F ass tree is very easy to find a path to get there. And after you get there, they just keep telling you were to go next. Everything else is optional.

the secret to killing tree sentinels is the same as killing margit the fell, you shouldn't engage in the dodge dance with them at all. only 2 or 3 of their attacks are actually punishable, if they aren't doing one of those just space them out or they'll keep cycling through attacks until they hit you.
