The reason why CS Nexon Studio is running on the original Half Life engine it's because it was made by Nexon Korea and Valve in 2007, named as "Counter-Strike Online", it was only available to Asian Countries until 2014 when it got released on Steam. Counter-Strike Online 1 and CS Nexon Studio are basically the same game (and it's not shut down 10:18). The Port of CS to the Original Xbox is really good, they did a really good job making the controls good for a controller. My favorite CS is CS Condition Zero (The Original not the Deleted Scenes).

Counter-Strike Online was released as a copy of CS1.6 for the Asian market with an updated interface, its own launcher (not Steam, but IAH games) and extra game modes that were already popular in CS1.6 (classic, deathmatch, gun games, ...). There were 2 main branches (CSO China and CSO Malaysia/Singapore). The development team focused on introducing a wide variety of game modes, including different zombie modes that would eventually become the main thing in the game. They also started introducing many pay2win broken weapons, most of them obtainable by farming during frequent events. The game was successful and gained popularity, so after many European players, including me, played it regularly with a really high ping of 200+, NEXON decided to launch Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies on Steam (same game, but for Europe). The game was released with all the game modes and pay2win anti-zombie weapons, playable characters and other weird-looking stuff they had until that moment in CS Online, so new players' reaction is understandably a WTF is this SH*T if they didn't follow along with the development of this game from the beginning. This game gathered so many players from the previous releases that CSO Malaysia/Singapore had to shut down due to the lack of active players and massive cheating problems. They later renamed it to Counter-Strike Nexon: Studio when they released a built-in map editor but to make a long story short to anyone trying the game for the first time, keep in mind it is still CS1.6 with too much new content and overpowered weapons that got out of hands in an extremely outdated game engine. Counter-Strike Online 2 was an attempt to bring Counter-Strike Online to the new century by upgrading the graphics while keeping the core of the game which has always been the variety of game modes and weapons.

There is a Counter-Strike before 1.6. It used to be a mod in Half Life. I clearly remember we used to play it in LAN cafes. The mod was originally developed in 1999, before Valve hired the developers, acquiring the IP rights and releasing the game as a separate franchise in 2000.

Counter Strike 1.6 does not have an active bot mode, but you can add the files to add bots and their corresponding commands. i do not know if it works now because after an update, all of the mods i used got fucked up, including the bots

That's why you have to use the legacy version of CS1.6 and Half-Life for the bots to work. For now, that's the only way. It's a shame because Valve missed the chance to include bots officially to CS1.6 with the Half-Life anniversary update. I don't know what they were thinking.

counter strike online 1 is basically CS Nexon Studio, it is the same game but back in the day franchised to asian countries' publishers, i believe it is an attempt by Nexon to outmatch Crossfire (which is the biggest FPS game in China), but they were too late, i agrees with Anomaly, that the game felt like heavily modded game compared to Crossfire (which at the time and still play today ocasionaly)

I played condition zero against bots for 4 years and made my own too later. They helped me with info and aim training before csgo. Also for CSO2 you can actually mod your CSS game to become CSO2 to like 50%. I have done it and tested it. Quite fun.

As a Taiwanese, I can say Counter-Strike Online is still playable,it was released earlier than csnz, and it’s basically the same game. Zombie mode was created in 2009 and before that it’s just a regular fps like 1.6. i was born 2000, and cs 1.6 was my first cs game, then CS CZ, CS CZ:DS, source zombies, and csgo then cs2, im proud i was apart of that cool gaming generation that started from the beginning of these. ive yet to see a single cs 1.6 hide and seek gamemode in csgo/2 or source zombies mode which imo makes 1.6 and source the best ones. It is now possible to play the original Xbox version of Counter Strike online again since it was shut down back in 2010. There's a XBL service called Insignia that has 100+ games listed, one of which is CS. You can use the service with the Xemu console emulator, or for the most authentic experience you can set it up with an OG Xbox. It would be so cool to see some big CS KZbinrs get together and invite some subscribers to play a few matches for a video. Like this comment for Anomaly to see if you'd also like to see this happen!! :D
