I don't know. A gruff accent like that for the lowest thugs in Bowser's army sounds about right to me. If it were a Yank goomba, it'd probably be a Boston, New Jersey, or maybe that Italian mobster accent. Imagine a goomba that sounds like the Sopranos or maybe Joey from Yugioh. But maybe I've just gotten too used his voice over the years.

I think I can explain why there's Madagascar characters in that final Shrek game. I had a version of the GBA Shrek 2 game that was combined on the same cartridge with a similar Madagascar game by the same developers. I'm guessing this meant they still had the assets of the Madagascar game to use in the engine and decided that if they had them anyway they might as well just make use of them.

20:41 Well... technically the DLC existed since the Dreamcast and the GBA has a peculiar way to make the DLC, the E-reader cards, and one example of that was the Super Mario Advance 4 World-E levels
@JeffreyThrash2 жыл бұрын
DLC on the SEGA Dreamcast is one of those genuinely cool things that got corrupted by AAA gaming greed over time. Not that downloading stuff via landline was any cheaper than horse armor or gacha mechanics, but imagine the fun and novelty of getting Opa-Opa as a playable character in Sonic Adventure 2’s kart racing mode (only the Dreamcast version, not GameCube) or Halloween outfits in that same game to celebrate Halloween 2001-all without giving any extra money to SEGA or Sonic Team! Now you could use that extra money you would have paid for DLC to pay your inflated landline bills at the time!
@chocolixo2 жыл бұрын
The e-reader stuff is already programmed into the game, the card just unlocks it
@JeffreyThrash2 жыл бұрын
@@chocolixo So basically it's like that infamous "locked DLC" stuff that Capcom did for games like Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, huh?
@chocolixo2 жыл бұрын
@@JeffreyThrash yeah, but Nintendo didn't advertise it as DLC at all, the cards mostly just unlocked minigames or NES roms
@JeffreyThrash2 жыл бұрын
@@chocolixo My puny 8-year-old brain at the time wouldn't have comprehended it if they advertised it as what we now call "DLC" anyway. Again, this concept of adding small new stuff to existing games was genuinely cool before the so-called "AAA industry" got their greedy mitts on it. That includes the e-Reader, not just the Dreamcast and its early examples of DLC. Imagine if Nintendo nowadays let us unlock NES ROMs in cool ways like rather than simply making us pay again and again for a "Virtual Console" or a "Nintendo Switch Online Subscription," depending on the console. At least the e-Reader had a bit of childlike whimsy to it.

19:07: In all fairness, the game came out before the Spinoff movies, so maybe the retcon would be like this: After his adventure with the Magic Beanstalk, he goes on to help a young lad win the heart of the princess. Puss was gonna retire before looking at the ad for the Poison Apple. As for why Puss was a pet for Fiona in an alternate timeline, perhaps Rumpelstiltskin’s takeover of Far Far Away got rid of the Poison Apple’s business, since he made Far Far Away into a haven for villains. So this backstory could be considered canon, when you think about it; simplicity is a good narrative tool, honestly. After all the game’s backstory didn’t mention that the man was given the Cat by the Miller, like the original story.

Little fun fact about Fairy Tale Freakdown is that it's impossible for Shrek and Fiona to fight each other. If you play as either of them you face a 'new' fighter called the magic mirror when reaching their stage that transforms into a clone. (The manual even listed magic mirror as an official fighter iirc.) Still doesn't explain the other Shrek or Fiona though.
