But God does like DEI if it forces White employers to hire qualified minorities/women. DEI forces employers to step outside their comfort zones. Skip missed the mark on this one

We need DEI because we are click-ish. It's not about including less qualified people just because they're minority/women. DEI forces employers to hire qualified minorities/women at the same rate they hire white men. Skip missed the mark a little on this teaching.

You are "the oppressor" if you oppress and subjugate others, you are the "victim" if on the receiving end of such treatment. Race comes into play because some Races have a long history of oppressing others. Learned behavior some of it, but appears to be inherent. Just as rising above oppression is a part of the DNA of some races. Jesus made it plain how we shout view and treat one another. Not everyone gets it, nor wants to! ❤

In one breath acknowledging that human beings are innately prejudiced against people that don’t look like them and in another breath condemning an attempt to tackle this issue?? If the hiring manager at a top law firm is innately programmed to value candidates that look like her, talk like her and have similar life experiences to her then how do you prevent QUALITY candidates who do not look like her from being overlooked?? The assumption that those candidates may not be the best for the job and are given the role to tick a box in itself is racist and flawed because who is judging the quality of the candidate if not a flawed human who has their own prejudices they will use to assess. Anyways I checked out at 20 minutes maybe you landed somewhere more favourable but until you know what it feels like to automatically be discounted or assumed less qualified based on your skin colour or disability you CANNOT understand how important it is to have laws that atleast attempt to counter this!!!

I too was offended when he said this. This is a very complex subject of hiring the most qualified candidate. No one black would have a job. We were happy to just be chosen as the token cause we got a job! why do we have to force people to see use. I was very saddened to hear his opinion here. Even in education of my people is unequal and another complex subject. Let's not go down the road of tackling DEI. I just look at Skip as a man not God. I still think he is gifted in his teaching of the word. Even today I am the first Black person in management for the company I work for. it's 2024! God Bless us all.

@@joyjones8782 He should read the book Black Like Me and then take those same meds to look Black. He'd see it's a different world. A guy on Oprah did this. He wAs trying to do it for two months. He lasted a few days. Bring stopped by police for nothing and followed in stores was too much for him. Skips a good teacher, but misses the mark when he gets political.

White people often see DEI as lowering hiring standards for minorities/females. Well, often the minority/female is MORE qualified than the White man completing for the same job. The White male employer can hire the white male employee because they share innate things. With no guard rails, White men will get hired more often for the best jobs. As a Black female, I would instinctively hire Black women. What about the qualified White man, too bad? No, DEI would "force" me to be fair. Yes, force me to be fair. DEI "forces" White CEOs to have fair hiring practices. DEI is not about an employer "lowering" qualifications in order to include minorities/women. DEI ensures that "qualified" minorities/women are hired at the same pace as qualified White men. It's about maintaining fairness in hiring. It "forces" employers to step outside of their comfort zones. It must be great to be a White man in corporate America.
