Aaron, Thank you! The great Jeff Newman taught fills that were very well thought out and used in a lot of music. Although I Love learning intros, because you can't know enough of them. Having beautiful fills is great and turns the heads of those in the band when you hit them with something new. Bring more on.

@SteelPicking

Yes, take one thing at a time and try to improve or be aware of it as you play. Sit down in front of a mirror and watch your hands. You can see the placement of both hands better this way. Make sure your bar hand is lining up with your fret markers . Check out the placement of your picking hand in relationship to the pickup, watch the angle and grip of your right hand. We have a vid on the volume pedal so check that out if you can. Hey remember it all takes time. If you do a little woodsheding it will pay off in the end. Keep picking! Aaron

Another great video Aaron! I have a request . Often you have seen players like Eddie long, Julian Tharpe, al petty etc all play a “grunge” time rhythm pattern on there base strings. I know there is a common thing between those players and that is, they mostly play universal tuning. Is there a possibility to do this on a 10 string the link below is An example of what I’m talking about sound wise ? Would love to learn

Hope this doesn't sound negative, but I think it would be more helpful to beginners if you did some of your earlier lessons on a single neck PSG. Seriously doubt I could afford a double and those extra pedals seem to just add a bit of confusion.
@SteelPicking
@SteelPicking 4 жыл бұрын
No problem. I only have one guitar and try to mix it up between E9 and the C6 necks. Most lessons are on the E9 because that is what most players use. We are going to have a beginner chorus soon so if that is of interest stay tuned. I really do not know skill level of everyone so I try and mix up the lessons. Thanks for the suggestion. Keep Picking! Aaron

I am really new to pedal steel. Are you playing this in an E9 tuning? And how are your pedals set up? I can't figure out how to get 7th chords yet.
@SteelPicking
@SteelPicking 4 жыл бұрын
Asdf, yes sir this is on the E9. If you have a standard 10 string E9th tuning your 9th string should be tuned to D open. To get a 7th chord you add the 9 string to your major groups. Like 10,8,6, /8,6,5/ 5,4,3, just add the 9 string to any of these three note groups and you get a 7th. If you play them open no bar you have forms of an E7th chord. Hope this helps and Keep Picking! Aaron
