You will underclub. Again. 🤭

The problem of choosing a club to get to the back of the green, in the back of your head you know the pin is a bit shorter. Unwillingly you still want to get near the pin, so you don't commit to the shot to get the ball to the back of the green. Because you try to hit with a longer club a bit shorter then you normally would hit it you're going to hit it shorter then when you hit with the right club. Does that make any sense?
@remydeboer97693 жыл бұрын
If you really want to see if it works, you should change the rules. Don't focus on the pin, but on the back of the green. If you hit it at the back of the green you get 3 points. If you hit it a little over the green you still get 1 point. If you hit it pin high you also get 1 point. If you hit it a little bit too short you get no points and if you hit it more than 20 feet short you get minus 3 points. In the end you can see if aiming for the back of the green actually could work if you commit to it.

I always play to the back yardage and it works for me.
@michaelsteel69673 жыл бұрын
Do you know what don’t be so hard on yourself - yes you chose hard holes but I would argue you proved your point. How many times have you seen Mr B come up short on his approaches whereas when he was clubbing up he was pin high. Most golfers (as per research) hit the ball 230 yards but they will tell you they hit it 290!. My old golfer used to always tell me to go up 1 club from what I think I should hit and plus 2 into a headwind as most trouble is specifically designed to be at the front of greens. So good point well made.

I've heard this advice so many times but was never convinced. Well done mates. Now I'm convinced. Straight out to the garden to play my local course on the SkyTrak to validate your strategy. Buffoons? Not at all. I live two extremes on course. A long time best friend who introduced me and taught me to play this game uses critical banter and insults. A good friend on my recently (2017) adopted local course is always supportive, complementary on good shots, rarely critical on crap shots. I enjoy both.

Great video guys. A video giving a really useful tip sprinkled with the usual amount of laughs. Playing to the back of the green makes perfect sense. I play off 18 because I think I can hit the perfect shot every time. I rarely do. I don’t think you played the wrong holes either. What the video showed is that you are better off having a full club into a long par 4 than having a difficult short sided chip. Keep the videos coming.

Eton Mess is mixed up meringue cream and strawberries - and it’s wonderful. You guys are Chorlton Mess - mixed up plans, friendship and golf - and it’s wonderful. You still made your point - ordinary golfers usually under club their approach shots (10 yards past might be very close if underhit - 10 yards short can be horrendous if underhit)

This is great to see... shows me to club up... I agree about playing for the "CBs" in our heads when we play... Cheers guys... You criticize your self about the hole selection for the video, it is not necessary, you still proved your point because it works whether it is for a regulation green or not. Think where you would have been on those holes if you hadn't clubbed up. Your scores would have been worse...

Last year if the pin was in the front, I hit to the middle distance. Middle or back pin I took the back distance. Also aimed for the middle and putted to the corners. Really helped my GIRs. I also use Adam Young's advice to play my shot shape to hit the middle of the green (draw) and that put my numbers up as well. Play the miss. Golfmates have just cemented that thinking for sure!

Great vid guys and what a sensible concept if you hit 80% of shots spot on go for the flag and you'll only be out 20% of the time but us normal folk hit maybe 20% proper so to be right 80% of the time is genius
@loffy7423 жыл бұрын
So you did this at home in the cold and it made sense. I made a comment about going somewhere warm to try it out and voila! So in your opinion, does it make as much sense to do it in warm weather as in cold? I don't think so. Seems your results were 50/50 and wouldn't you rather be below the hole than above it when putting & chipping? Thanks for the video!
@jimbeaver273 жыл бұрын
I admit it, last year I started playing 1 more club, sure I started to hit the back of the green, but I learned about my realistic yardages, the distances with an easy swing. My trouble really is not looking all around the green to avoid the trouble, I am always pin hunting :)
