Would love to have a go at using some hickory clubs. Like the idea of seeing more KZbin videos on hickory matches.

Extreamly humbling experience...as a beginner golfer. Watching how challenging it used to be, even for a professional vice novice with newer clubs, is ultimately humbling. Excellent video. Well edited and well preformed. You should be proud!

Well worth the 35qd. The clubs would be great to own and mount on the wall. The stories those clubs could tell

I play hickory golf all of the time. My favorite club is my 5 iron. My oldest club is from 1900.

I thought I heard Zac's voice! That's awesome! I actually had a few hickory clubs (still do) and I wanted to try and send them to Zac's friends over at Experior, but they don't have a PO box sadly.

I've played hickory golf for 10 years or so. Once you have the bug it does take time to build a "set" that suits your swing and gives varying distances to get you round a golf course, rather than just the taster sets here. I would recommend anyone to try them. They are a lot tougher than you think particularly if the heads have been reset properly for play.

Matt I’ve literally just bought a set of hickory shafted clubs...I love the history behind it...I’m keen to hit some golf balls just to experience what golfers did over 100 years ago

Matt great video Fleetwood isn't too far from me they have a persimmon soceity competition Looks an incredible experience playing with clubs and balls that the greats of the late 19th early 20th century would have used These guys like harry vardon, jh Taylor and james braid must have had some talent

Interesting. I knew of Kingarrock and expected to see better quality clubs available. I agree with Homer, having actually playable clubs would be much more authentic and much more fun. Good players with good clubs can score very closely to their modern game. Go to the Society of Hickory Golfers website and see what is available out there. The British Golf Collectors Society as well as many national hickory playing groups can get you into the hickory game somewhere near you.

Enjoyed it, would love to see more. I've visited the web sites of manufacturers who produce hickory shafted sets, but couldn't bring myself to spring for a set I might only use once or twice during the year.

@@Mattfryergolf There are one or two "Hickory Tournaments" that I know of which take place in the southeastern USA during the year. It's more like a "convention/get together," to keep the memory alive.

I really enjoyed that. I always feel a deep connection with that area of the world because most of my genetics originated there. I know I'm built for that weather and not for where I'm residing at the moment, which is currently the ghastly hot and humid southeastern United States. This would be something I would definitely like to give a go, as y'all would say.

Would be more enjoyable with some new hickory clubs. A lot of people playing hickory don't seem to understand that the likes of Hagen and Jones weren't playing in the 1920s with clubs from the 1820s. They used the best quality they could get at the time.

Interesting to see how slowly the lads swing with these clubs. I guess a 100 mp/h+ swing would damage the clubs

Well, the clubs are 100 years old...What I would like to see, is an artisan actually make a full set of early 1900's hickory sticks with old tech, but NEW WOOD...THEN play a full round with THAT!

The way golf was supposed to be played - stroking the ball, not jumping out of your shoes while smashing it as hard as possible. And the course is just fantastic, no carpet like fairways and greens, but well maintained. The rough is like it should be not 1" and 2" high but proper knee high grass. I am not against change and new technology, but some things does not change for the better.

Just awful examples of playable hickories. Properly prepared and with the right number of clubs ie 7 or 8, decent golf can be and is played. Sub par rounds are achieved today with proper clubs, not that rubbish.
