Works on any strings - but if they are fresh and newer then the harmonics are able to chime stronger.

The single finger and thumb one came easier for me. Got it right off the bat and my thumb nail be came my pick.

Does the tuning matter?

No. The tuning doesn't matter BUT the length of the string matters. The harmonic will be on a string at the 12th fret no matter whether the 6th string is tuned to E or D or anything else. BUT if the string is capoed then the harmonic moves to 12 frets above where the capo is. - Steve

Is a false harmonic the same thing as a pinch harmonic?

Artificial harmonics are located at specific frets with certain sweet spots, while pinch harmonics can be played pretty much anywhere. And of course, the techniques differ from an AH being done like playing a regular note, except the fretting is done barely touching directly above the fret wire. A PH is done with the pick set low at the fingers and having the thumb brush the string simultaneously as the note is picked.

I've seen this guy on KZbin, pro player, i couldn't find the harmonics he was playing, untill i realized he had tuned the 1st 2 strings tuned lower than standard. Is that a thing pros do? Is it recommend?
