Recently Nintendo pulled a Nintendo and started taking down all their copyrighted stuff on the Garry's Mod workshop to prevent it from falling into the hands of Duncan, age 11, from New Hampshire. Honestly I don't really care though because Nintendo is LAME and STUPID, now get MAD at me for not caring so we can drive the VIEWER ENGAGEMENT up!!

Gee, I sure do hate all those Nintendo DMCA claim things, exercising their commercial rights and making all the little nintendo fanboys poo poo in their diapers. Of course, that's what I would say if I spent all my time on the internet and had no life, but instead, I choose to spend all my time doing more important things. Anyway, here's a neat little chunk of Gmod history for you guys. So when I was watching this video, I noticed that at around the 12:30 (not exact) mark a script error stating that Garry's Bombs 5 (GBombs) was causing issues. I happen to do some modding for this game in Lua, and I've looked into these errors and the story behind them (with gbombs5 specifically), the origin of it is pretty interesting. To explain it though I'll need to give you guys a bit of history, though it's also just fun to reminisce about this addon. GBombs is a really old, pretty well known series of addons in Gmod, being nearly as old as the workshop itself. GBombs 4 is the one I remember seeing, with 5 being a newer version (I'm not sure where 1-3 went, but they're probably obscure testing versions). Back in the early 2010s when GBombs 4 was out and 5 was just being released, computers weren't nearly as capable as they are today, and thus had limitations with a lot of the calculations that they could handle at once. Gmod gained a notorious reputation for stutters and lag spikes when certain things happened, and spawning in the infamous Tsar Bomba from GBombs was the epitome of this pseudo-meme, just look up "Gmod nuke meme" on google and you'll instantly know what I'm talking about. Now, when newer hardware started rolling out, these sorts of things became less and less intense. Though they do still happen to some degree, the days of your entire computer crashing because someone spawned a fat man are long gone unless you're running with a computer from the 2010s, in which case, God help your soul. Most people thought this was great, as now they could spawn two, three...possibly even four nuclear bombs at once without blowing up their computers, but there were a select few that missed the classic jank of Gmod's beloved bomb addon, and these select few were probably some of the worst that could have held their opinion. Some of you may remember that GBombs 5 had a crippling backdoor vulnerability which caused it to go missing on the workshop for a while. Information on why this happened is difficult to find, but the commonly believed reason is that the creator, or someone on his team, had malicious intentions. This might well be true, but what if I told you those intentions were wanting a bomb so large that even modern computers crashed? Yeah...sounds pretty cool, huh? The fact of the matter is that this backdoor was put into the addon by one of these bad actors years in advance for that exact reason, as a sort of 'gotcha' for possible future negotiation. Eventually, the time came when this hacking ring decided that enough was enough, and computational power was diminishing the fun of crunchy bomb slideshows too much, so they brought to the creator's attention their scheme with a simple demand: "Make a bomb big enough to crash NASA supercomputers, or we'll go nuclear ourselves on everyone's servers." They thought this was an amazing pitch, mostly because of the pun. The team behind the addon saw this as a stupid and trivial issue to solve, and decided to cave to the demands, since it was no real loss for them...or so they thought. So, the hacking ring was pleased for the time being, and the dev team was now hard at work to find a new bomb. The code was simple enough, just turn up the explosive power and make the noises louder, but the hard part was making a bomb that really felt large, one that would really warn people with "do NOT use this". This wasn't a simple "two times as powerful as the Tsar Bomba" sort of deal, this was orders of magnitude, to the point where the game would just straight up crash due to a combination of an edict limit and memory limit (basically the bomb exploded and spawned more bombs that spawned other things). At first they just used an oildrum as a placeholder, but they all felt like it needed to be something bigger and more intimidating. After minutes of brainstorming, someone finally came up with an answer. In the middle of this intense development session, your mom happened to be migrating to the fridge for her fifty fourth meal of the day, her footsteps being the cause of twelve out of the top twenty earthquakes in the world (though this is common knowledge). After the quake subsided, the surviving dev team regrouped online from the rubble of their homes and discussed the possibility of this as the answer with unanimous agreement. If she's able to crash people's games in real life, then certainly she would be the ideal candidate for a bomb of this magnitude. And not to mention that it'd be a funny joke to boot. "Your mom is so fat that she's the largest GBomb in existence." That kind of thing. Now, as for the error, while the dev team was implementing your gargantuan mother as a bomb, they failed to realize just how massive she is. Your Mom (the bomb, not to be confused with the MOAB) is so fat, so unbelievably large, that not detonating, not spawning, but merely *loading a version of the addon* with her causes script errors. She takes up so much data that even the spawn icon in the menu is too much for the game to handle, so it opts to just not show it in the first place. I know it's hard to visualize, but this implies (and the code back this up) that the bomb would be so giant and powerful that it would probably actually fry your computer if it detonated, so be glad that this script error appears. At the end of the day, the hacking ring saw this error too, and at first were rather upset with the outcome and threatened to walk back their end of the deal, but rumors has it that they actually did manage to spawn your mom and detonate her, but nothing's ever been heard of them since.
