When Bart says on the river "Are you thinking of turning your hand into a bluff here?".. I think the caller just answered "yes" as an automatic response, but most likely wasn't thinking that way on the river. Based on the way he played the hand: The caller's thought process on the river most likely was "well they both checked to me, and I know they wouldn't do that if they had a flush or full house, so three-of-a-kind is most likely good, so i'll bet."

I can't speak to this particular caller, but something I've noticed is an exchange like this, and it happens a lot on these calls: Caller: "Yeah so I checked." Bart: "Checked? You should have bet it all here!" Caller: "Well yeah, that's what I was thinking" It's ok to say, "Oh, I missed that" - after all, that's the whole purpose of the show.

The problem here is with soooo many people limping and the action hands are almost face up at the river.. no one has a flush or full house (like Bart said maybe 5-10% chance someone is being really cute) after that it's an over pair and a better five...I actually thought it was going to be 54 and that's the problem you lose to EVERY possible 5, so you actually should almost play this exactly like you have AA.

I show this hand down every time given the action and assume I'm beat. I had the guy on like A-5 suited. Given the action, the other player had an over pair, no doubt, and IF he did have the flush and got there, he's certainly betting it. So bluffing off here? Kinda crazy. And, I've have folded pre, so we aren't even in this position.

@@luisbenites4825 the whole point of these hand history reviews is to consider what hero could do differently next time in a similar spot. So it’s perfectly reasonable to consider whether hero should raise (or fold) preflop.

You moved out of Austin? I have family in Austin, and I've been visiting them off & on over the last 14 years. 14 years ago, I considered moving there, but each year the traffic got worse, and housing prices went up, and now it is just insane. It's a great tech hub, a lot to recommend it, but damn. My friend lives in Round Rock, and 10 years ago I was at his house for dinner. He bought one of the first houses in his neighborhood, and paid $400k for his house. One year later, when we visited, the houses in the neighborhood were selling for $550k. I also have family in Georgetown, and that's far enough north that the prices aren't crazy, but give it time.

Austin also has one of the largest dips in housing prices...down 15% in the last quarter. I just seen this on a KZbin video. The video was discussing how the housing market can't be propped up forever and prices are about to drop. Can't remember the video.

Probably not very GTO but you might even be able to just fold the turn vs the super strong SB raise given that people aren't bluffing in this spot basically ever and we have the second worst 5.

Just had such a similar hand against someone who overplayed KK. I raised with 65s in mp full table and got called by the button and a blind. Flop comes 532 with 2 hearts and I bet about half, getting called by both. Turn comes a non heart 5 and the blind leads out. I raise and then I get 3bet by the button all in. The blind folds and I muck pretty quickly. Button shows KK. People will overplay big pairs and have no sense of how the action should give him pause - I figure I'm beat by too many slow played hands there. Problem is that I didn't consider how all those big hands would have raised the flop and not just called multi way and my opponent showed so much strength i thought I have kicker issues or I'm against a straight or boat

I don’t think you should ever be folding here without a great read. How deep were you? This is pretty top% board for your hand, you’re live vs a straight and should only be A4s combos You’re drawing super thin to sets, but lower stakes players over play so many over pairs on this board. I think you have to call here.

No matter what I try, it ends up failing. Super tight, fundamental tight, tight aggressive/passive aggressive, loose aggressive/wild. No matter if I have AA or J4 or anything in between, on the button, in the blinds, early, middle, or late position; I just can't win.

You need to work on your hand reading... knowing how to bet based on your perceived range vs your opponents perceived range is how to make money in poker... if you're always getting it in with AA post flop you're doing something wrong, sometimes u need to fold strong hands based on the board texture and the action taken.

Best practice is to tighten up by one position per limper. So if you are in hj and there are two limpers, open the range you would from two seats closer to utg.

Yes home game is a game that is not in a casino. Like if you just invited a bunch of players to come play in your basement or garage. Most would be considered illegal I would believe if the host is taking a rake.

When I limp from early position with a big pair hoping the raising behind me goes bonkers but doesn’t happen I’m willing to fold my big pair post flop if the flop is bad and or I’m met with resistance. It’s 2023 I can’t believe people are still making 2004 mistakes
