No, peak was mid 00s to early 10s. After the early 10s, political correctness blew up and Gen Z started to come into the scene appropriating everything. Before the mid-late 00s, luddites and conservativism tainted society and only the privileged had the ability to live liberally and freely in private. So maybe middle-upper class suburbanites enjoyed that era, but likely no one else. Late 90s - Early 00s (give or take 1998-2004) was easily the darkest era. Look at when famous people got assaulted. Look at documentary An Open Secret. All these sick things happened and peaked during that dark and twisted era. Everything felt wrong in those days. Because everything WAS wrong. Only the privileged enjoyed that sick era. Also, 90s was garbage compared to 80s and mid-late 00s. I have no idea why people claim they liked it so much. I reviewed extensive archival video from my local school that was taken every year from around 1988 to 2001. You can literally watch society plummet after the late 80s and very early 90s. Kids become shy, uncomfortable, and timid. The sense of individuality and confidence erodes. You know bad things are happening at home. And I guarantee after 2004 if they still took video you could see the rise again briefly.

@@lePurpleDragon If you needed to watch archives then it means you weren't born yet during the 90s so you don't know what you're talking about. Ask all people who lived through that era and most of them will tell you that the 80s and the 90s were the best decades. In terms of entertainment and freedom of speech the 90s and early 2000s were the golden era. And it's around 2007/2008 when things started to crumble down until reaching the mess we are in today. So you saying that peak was mid 00s to early 10s is a joke, that period was the beginning of the end.

I miss when boys were like this. They were not much different that boys in the 80s and 90s. They just seemed so much more healthy minded, well adjusted, tougher, and just look like they spend a lot of time outside. They are all fully dressed and ready to go someplace, there is no issue with them having shoes on inside. No one cares that they are playing GTA. They are not looking at their phones. While they are playing video games it's clear this was only a part of their whole day. They are all mature, no one is throwing hissy fits because they are losing or because their friend won't give them the controller. They are not bouncing around on the couch, getting up every few seconds. They are just cool and laid back.

@@Argon314 I felt like we were kinda getting back to this a little before the pandemic. Two years of virtual learning, wearing mask and kids staying indoors all the time. Here we are 4 years later and kids are still in this homebody state. Rarely see them outside and when they are not really dressed. They are often in sleep clothes and are wearing Crocs or slides or in their socks. They are not really doing much of anything. Sure there are still boys like this, but they are becoming far and few. They say things go in cycles so hopefully things will change. Many schools are starting to ban cellphones and it seems more parents are seeing the negative effects of these electronics especially with ADHD and anxiety.

Who remembers when Walmart and other retailers had game demo stations? Where you could try these games before you bought them. You'd tell your parents you'd be in the electronic section while they did their shopping lol

That was absolutely me. I remember the N64 demo stations in Walmart and Blockbuster. My most fond memory of that was playing the Pokemon Snap demo in Blockbuster while my mom looked for a movie.

The first 10 seconds brought a big smile to me seeing them. Instead of gta 3, gta vice city would be played at my cousin's house and three of us all around the same age would be just like them. This and smash bros melee we would have a great time in 2002/03 as cousins. I miss those days and think about it time to time

@@zm_headhunter You're more likely to go out and do stuff when you have your shoes on. No one for the most part tripped about shoes back then unless wearing snow boots or something. You kind of create unintended consequences when you never wear shoes inside. When my shoes come off I want to wrap the blanket around me and go to sleep. I had a friend growing up where shoes were not allowed, we were so lazy over there.
