@ Honestly, Gardevoir can be a tough cookie to deal with. The only thing I could see you doing with Darkrai is nasty plotting (4.A) all of her projectiles to get charges, work your way in slowly and then charged dark pulse (5.A). Don’t forget you can dash cancel a counter attack to armour through projectiles as well. Charged 8.L is also good in this case. You’d really only be able to do this when Gardevoir sets up weather ball (4.A > L) or 4.A > M. Field phase is where you REALLY want to be against Gardy because of the breathing room you get to work with. Charged back.H with Darkrai can help work get in to set up bad dreams rising. That and foward.L into nasty plot. A little Gengar tip as well. Shadow sneak (R in the air) is one of the things you need to know how to use to pressure well with him. 1. During j.A, you can SS when Gengars (vibrating?) to return to ground and skip the dive kick while the shadow still comes out. 2. You can also SS after 6.LH, allowing you to continue pressure I’m not really a Gengar guy, but these are the things I picked up in my experience with him Hope you keep enjoying this game!

Pokken failed for many reasons: 1. Nintendo barely ever advertised it 2. Online netcode is still delay-based instead of rollback 3. Most Pokemon fans are used to more casual turn-based RPGs, which are very different from fighting games 4. I think the phase system was a turn off for a lot of fighting game fans who didn't really understand the mechanic or why it's in the game 5. You need 2 consoles just to properly play this game in local MP, as it's split-screen, 30 FPS without that I see some people say that it being locked to Nintendo systems is also an issue, but the Switch is one of the best selling game consoles of all time, and plenty of other games have sold well in the past despite being locked to a single system (Halo 2 and 3 literally broke sales records at their times despite being Xbox exclusives, for example), so I don't think that's as big of an issue as people make it out to be. I feel like I'm starting to see more people talk about this game, so maybe a sequel now that fixes a lot of the issues of the original would do well these days. Give it rollback netcode, do a better job advertising the game, do a better job explaining the phase shift mechanic, better optimize the game for local play, and give it more engaging single player content, and people would eat it up.

I feel you. And you’re on the money. But the biggest reason is WiiU. Let’s be real here. The WiiU sold around 13 million copies. This game still managed to sell 1.3 million copies on the failed WiiU. That’s 10% of the entire console’s audience. The industry has changed. I’m 100% convinced that if they would announce pokken tournament 2 now on the switch or switch2, that it would sell well over 10 million copies worldwide. Even with these flaws you mentioned. Most people just don’t even know it exists. The way social media works today. Now, you’ve got half the gaming community watching a Nintendo direct. But yes that combined to the things you pointed out: new coat of paint, locked 60fps local multiplayer, rollback and some smart roster decisions (Greninja, Snorlax, etc) this game would blow up

It’s underrated mostly because of its anime arena fighter style gameplay. Sure it’s got actual combos and skill based gameplay vs something like Jump Force, but the anime arena fighter style camera angles make it harder to play locally as you can argue somebody will have a camera advantage on single screen gameplay, and I believe the framerate drops during local vs also. And people don’t really like the tiny screens you get when you do splitscreen. Another common complaint I see is that people don’t really like the phase switch stuff. Like some people just want the traditional fighting game phase and some people just want the arena fighter style phase, not both (I forget what the phases are called lol). Game is fun but it was clear through its unconventional gameplay that it would never be in the spotlight unfortunately. Great vid though. Subbed! :)

Funny as hell to see people trying out this game in this day and age. P fun casually though in small portions. I used to compete and play it a good amount 2016-2019. So as one of the old best darkrais on the west coast, I’ll give some pointers. At least from what I remember. With darkrai you wanna mix up zoning with your traps and once in nightmare mode you can be more aggressive after making your opponent more impatient/nervous from your rifts/projectiles. Support wise I highly recommend Eevee/frogadier for darkrai. Eevee gives the attack boost but also gives darkrai a good way to hit opponents in burst mode. Because most of darkrais attacks won’t stagger the opponents otherwise. This allows you to press neutral X attack (the one where he lunges forward in duel phase.). Duel phase neutral X into dark void is a reliable confirm into nightmare mode in duel phase. Same with field phase back X > homing attack > dark void (after the first hit of homing attack hits) But yeah, Frog allows you to set up your own traps safely or force the opponent to move/block which can open up opportunities for you. I know you like gengar the most but I think darkrai is worthwhile learning and satisfying. Keep up the content!

Algorithm is working in your favor. I main Charizard with my pocket being Garchomp & Blaziken. I used to play it back on Wii-U & the arcade, but never transitioned to Switch. Part of me is proud to see that this "dead" game is still "alive". Possibly the best reason to even get the game nowadays is for content creation purposes. PS: F*** RANGED CHARACTERS IN THIS GAME!!!! PS2: Pokken is underrated, imo, due to many things: ● It was released on the DYING STAGES of Wii-U ● It was exclusive in Japanese arcades and anime con arcades ● Phase Shift plays a role in the BS ● Ranged characters are not balanced worth a damn, Suicune especially lol ● Though it's made by the people of Tekken, there were some things they could've polished a lot better ● Lack of fighting Pokemon in a fighting game ● Pokemon Company didn't market the game properly in comparison to other Pokemon games ● They deadass set the game up to fail by not doing shit with it. Patch updates, more characters, etc all they did was released the Switch add-on then abandoned it like a terrible parent. Over 1000 Pokemon and this whole thing could've been cooking! I'm surprised they even have the servers up as of this post. The game is beautiful to look at though PS3: Blaziken, Lucario, Suicune, & Gardevoir were 4 of the top most used characters on that game back in the G. Blaziken is the Ken Masters of the game

I have a hot take that I think is not so hot because deep down everyone feels it: Nintendo needs to invest more money in the consoles. For real, their console specks haven't changed since the Nintendo Wii and even then there was the Xbox with HD and the Playstation with Blue-ray. They are literally price gougers with their shitty systems and have no excuses for that shitty evil practice (look up wjat it costs to make a nintendo switch and compare that to what you end up paying). Literally all the other consoles are virtually low tier computers now, but Nintendo has absolutelly not cared about buffing their systems and honestly they desserve the backlash when the Nintendo switch 2 drops and it turns out to be utter dissapointment. Also, for the apologists saying the switch is balanced for comfort and familly focussed, that is bullshit because the Steam deck exists and it is absolutelly fucking amazing and has great graphics and specks for a handheld portable system. They can do better, but they won't because they are money focused and fuck them for that.

7:22 Pokken semi-flopped for the same reasons most Pokémon spinoffs do, it was barely advertised. Both versions literally only got like 2 teaser trailers and a launch trailer each, Nintendo did not give half a damn about advertising it. Plus it's a Pokémon game that isn't a turn based RPG in it's most watered down, easy to swallow form, there's a reason why almost every single spinoff series only sees one new entry every 6 odd years, and that's if they're lucky, Rumble has been in limbo for the past 9 years except for that shitty mobile game that didn't even last 2. But the main reason I think it sold like sand in the Sahara is the phase switch mechanic. That mechanic alone drove a giant nail into a really tiny coffin because it forcibly and haphazardly smashed an arena fighter and an arcade fighter together into a hulking mass that instantly drove away both parties. Most that play arena fighters don't like arcade fighters because they tend to require way more dedication and execution to get down, and most that play arcade fighters don't like arena fighters because they're usually too simple without enough mechanical depth to actually sink your teeth into. Forcing both groups to put up with both styles that switch at (what comes across as) random intervals was a killshot. They should've committed to one or the other and I still stand by that. Should've just done Option A or Option B, or hell if Nintendo and Namco really wanted this "Tekken but with Pokémon" idea to actually work, then they really should've taken Option C and made it the same 2.5D arcade style that Tekken proper is, instead of Option D with this dumb gimmick.

imo game was at bare minimum just okay, i dont like the whole idea of field and dual phase and fighting was more rock paper scissors than anything else. if it leaned more into the 2.5D thing like tekken and not what it was id personally be more inclined to play it more than i did not a bad game but not a great game by any means to me
@Gengar-BelieverАй бұрын
@@magatsuchaos4985 Funny enough that's one of the reasons some people didn't stick with it was because it had the whole phase shift thing so I completely understand with that

It’s because it on the Wii no one knew about it I just found out about it today watching this video
@Gengar-Believer2 ай бұрын
@@lemystique7130 Well firstly thanks for clicking on the video🙏🏾 Secondly you are right, most people didn't play it on the Wii U they mainly played it on the switch. I think the downfall of the game was the developers not giving it attention or much updates since the mainline games did better overall.
